My parents sent me a package (shoe box size) from the US on 8/8 and it arrived here on 8/18. USPS said it wouldn't arrive before 8/22.

I've learned that USPS can be so irregular with delivery times. I've gotten packages from the US in less than a week and sometimes it's taken around 2 months. Not sure what it depends on though. It does seem, however, that the larger packages get here much faster than small packages.

Yea, at least in the U.S., from newegg.com to my box in Miami I had them loose a disk drive recently.

I have been shipping in most of my none-critical mail recently using Procomex. Takes about 3-4 days for it to arrive once I order a shipment released form Miami, including time on Turbus to get it to me in Temuco.

We have noticed delays also with Fedex. You know there super duper overnight 5 star international document shipping that cost around $85 for few sheets of paper, has been taking up to a week to arrive and is being sub-contracted to turbus once it hits Chile anyway.

Heavy privatization pressure on USPS. Yes, many cutbacks(the USPS can't lose money and must do cutbacks instead). Offices closed, private contracts for routes, sorting etc. Really a shame as now I know know the USPS is better than UPS or Fedex. And it is funny to hear people complain a package took longer than three days in the US...the things that were good and I used to complain about :D

This was a helpful thread!

Ugh I'm dying waiting for a smaller-than-a-show-box package. Handed into USPS EMI service 9 - 2, didn't even get sent out of the states until 9 - 9 !!!! Now its 9-14 and still hasn't even arrived in Chile. Man I'm depressed, and annoyed. At least being in Santiago Correos Chile should be able to hook me up with it fast once it touches down (if it ever does).

US Postal Service Express Mail International is faster in Chile than in or in transit from the "US".

No comment on the obvious irony of it all.

Yeah I was pretty pissed that it took 7 days to get from Buffalo, NY to Jersey City, NJ. That is just absurd for a service that claims it will deliver it in 6-10 business days to the country of destination. Half of the time alone was spent in transit on the shortest leg of the journey! I can only complain about inconsistency, though. Like others have said, some times packages get here in 1-2 weeks. I really hope this won't turn into a 1 month plus debacle. :(

Does it not show up as landing in Chile if stopped in Aduanas? I was thinking maybe it was, they are 3 used XBOX games and labeled as Used CDs properly, etc.. so they may open em and look. I hope they don't mess with them too much. *sending positive vibes* :P
