yea, I am betting they never get any sort of definite answers to what happened to that plane.

That plane literally went down in one of the most remote places on the planet, water up to 3,500 meters deep, oceans that are worse than most on a good day.

Some pretty ridiculous theories floating around the interwebs about it....supposedly sourced from "expats in the know"...I wont bother repeating the details, becasue it's so crazy.

They seem to have found some insulation type material that may be from the interior of the gas tanks.

They say often in ocean crashes the only thing that is found are the light parts of the plane. seats, foam, luggage, etc, even when the plane goes down relatively intact the pressure as the plane sinks strips out or forces the light stuff to seperate and surface from the rest of the structure.

I think I would be hard pressed to come up with 5 or 10 worse places on earth for an airplane crash, and most would probably be of similar description (e.g. the north pole). That is a big, mean, ocean with vary little by way of infrastructure to support a search.

I think they are flying like 3 hours, just to get to the search area; which leaves not much time for searching before returning.

Armed forces dont exactly have a reputation of being straight up. Just hope they dont try and cover up what happened or hinder investigations (like Antuco, Juan Fernandez) and get the truth out as soon as possible.
Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science. - Darwin
