Evo resigned in Bolivia and of course the armchair lemmings are saying "that's one...more are coming" but I see evos situation unique in that the election JUST happened a few weeks ago and has smelled fishy then the outside group confirmed election tampering so his resignation is no harbinger for chile
It's not like evo was over half way through a legit term as Pinera is

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019
I've been living in Niebla, outside Valdivia, for the past few months--starting well before the manifestaciones. There are regular protests in the downtown around the plaza, and the students regularly try to block the Pedro de Valdivia bridge. Its usually pretty easy to get around them. This is a small town, and there are lots of bridges over the rivers. There has been some violence, but its not at all on the scale or frequency of Santiago. Last Friday I read that there were five protest-related fires in Chile, including the one at the university in Santiago. Here someone set fire to a recycling bin. Yet even little Niebla has had its manifestatciones. There is evidence of street fires in a couple of places, and the public school down the street is plastered with supportive placards written by the students. Last Friday the local paper reported nine different protests around town. I dove up and back to Lago Maique this morning, straight through town, without seeing anything.tiagoabner wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2019 12:57 pmIs there anyone from Puerto Varas and/or Valdivia here? How are the protests down there? I was thinking about visiting in the next few days, and I was wondering if things have died down there already

Just on CNN, John Cobin was just arrested by the PDI after firing several shots at protesters in Reñaca. Allegedly in self-defence. A very confused situation with the protest still going on. Hope I'm not repeating disinformation.

In his words
Chile is not perfect, not as good as Hong Kong
For those that might not know .
taking the piss out of, which is an expression meaning to mock, tease, joke, ridicule, or scoff. ... Taking the Mickey (Mickey Bliss, Cockney rhyming slang), taking the Mick or taking the Michael is another term for making fun of someone.

A lot of support for him on Emol, and threats on the YouTube comments, suppose that's not that surprising.

The 2700+ yt comments are highly concerning. The yellow vest is problematic...I didnt know wearing that mean counter-protesters?

Some sort of a small rifle, maybe a .22 or maybe something smaller like a pellet gun. Hard to tell from video.41southchile wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2019 8:45 pmIs that a gun leaning against the wall behind him on that video?fraggle092 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2019 8:26 pmHere's his YouTube version of eventseeuunikkeiexpat wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2019 8:23 pmhttps://www.latercera.com/nacional/noti ... es/895327/

So this guy is clueless about Chile and sorry but as a European he comes off as a almost cartoon stereo tyoe American, doesn't know other countries are different, thinks he can pull a gun out to defend himself against a crowd of unarmed people and wants everyone to pray for him, when he is the suspect.
I mean on the plus sides this may make the Carabineros look less lethal and patient, you know got something to compare them to now.
I think he is going to have a nice prison sentence... I can't imagine shooting someone and getting away with it will happen.
