TVN and MSM Chile watchers: was this story reported on the TV?

TVN and MSM Chile watchers: was this story reported on the TV where you are? (I do not monitor the national, I mean Santiago-oriented news most of the time)

A couple of days after a series of violent crimes against innocents in a certain sector of San Antonio including a home invasion and rape of one of the females and brutal beating of a 70s year old grandfather who wanted to protect his family, the locals took part in a cacerolazo and blockade that ended in a justicia de mano propio by the locals of the focus of all the crime in the area, a known (even by the authorities) drug dealing house. They forced the residents known as a the "Santiaguinos" out and dismantled the interior and exterior parts and torched their belongings in the street.

It is stuff like this that reminds me that Chileans have it in them to kick some shit (especially where it matters at the local and personal meaning level) when it is needed and a reminder of the reason I became enamored with my locale after their orderly and level-headed and community-minded conduct after the 2010 megaquake.
Generally, just a SPAM KILLER. You are on your own in this forum. My personal mission here is done.

BUT when necessary, by way of ridicule and truth revelation we shalt do war.

i think it happens a lot more than is reported. from what i have heard the police are just as frustrated with the lefty courts in recent years that are more worried about the human rights of the criminals, than taking them off the street. the police have no troible catching these guys, often repeatedly. so they tend to put such cases on the backburner.

there was two brothers that are from frutilar that had been in prison for various robberies and assults that were released recently.

as soon as they were spotted in town, the watsapp grapevine lit up with their photos and lists of their crimes. as far as i understand they were basicaly run out of town.

the tolerance for the lefty crap of "well had they just been given bigger goverment bonuses growing up", is running thin all across the country.

even a very very left wing judge i know voted for pinera because she was sick of the bachelet's administration crap.

there is suppose to be a criminal law reform bill in the works, but congress is still prety lefty heavy, so not much is getting done these days about anything.

I think I did see this on a mainstream TV channel. I can't remember which one. I only watched for about 5 seconds so I'm not even completely sure it's the same story.

What I've noticed is that the mainstream Chilean national media judges the newsworthiness of such types of event mainly on whether there is video footage of it. Even hopelessly insipid stuff like 2 people arguing on a bus will get on the news if there is a video of it, while far more serious stuff will be ignored if there is no video to show.

yea, give them 15 seconds of video on some stupid pointless subject, and they will loop it for 30+ mins and beat the subject to death untill no one cares anymore. absent video, they will use animation to do the same.

i just heard on the radio the pdi arrested a women in puerto montt for robbery, that had 115 prior arrests for robbery.

she needs to get some sort of award for that. like her own jail cell.

i read about a guy in conception with 45 arrests.

we have a guy in frutillar with something like 68 arrests, including being arrested in the morning for robbery, released, then arrested again in the evening for robbery.

but that lady, as far as i know, holds the all time record.

forget 3 strikes. how about something more reasonable? say 30 strikes and you are out.

hell, the costs in public funds just to arrest and process her is probably higher than anything she ever stole.

Mob justice of this sort is just another symptom of poor policing. In this case there were probably good reasons for the actions, but uncontrolled behaviour of this sort is the road to chaos, or rather the road to Mexico, Guatemala or Bangladesh.

Its the state's business to maintain public order so people don't have to take the law into their own hands, but its doing an increasingly poor job.

Here in La Serena, we have exactly the same situation with drug dealing in Barrios Sociales, again with the blame placed on incomers from Santiago. Guess every major town has similar problems.
