Export Pet Vet

Post by jamie_m » Wed Aug 01, 2018 7:17 pm

I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend a vet in Santiago that specialises in exporting pets, in this case a dog? Or one that has at least done it before. Not looking for a company that charges ridiculous fees to book a vet appointment.
Chile to Australia

Many thanks.

No such animal.

What exactly is it you need to do?

Why wouldn't there be such an animal? Has no Chilean vet ever prepped an animal for export? I want to send my dog back to Australia. Most Vets we've spoken to have no idea what is involved and have never done it. I would rather use a vet that has experience in this particular area.

If there is, they are very very poor.

18 million people in the country. How many do you think ever need to export an animal to australia (that is still alive)?

Probably not sufficient to make a living on it.

Shots and SAG certificates are your hassle as i recall, but has been a while since we had an animal go the other direction to austrailia. Mostly in bound over the years.

Start from the Australian end, what do they want? Then work back this way from there. I can probably nut it out with a couple of vets in the family, they'll know someone in Santiago to instruct.

Yeah, and if I wanted to bring a dog to Australia on Sep 19th, it looks like I should have started the process on Feb 18. http://www.agriculture.gov.au/cats-dogs

Yep, then that's the way it is. It's got me buggered why mobile expats want to complicate their lives with cats dogs or budgerigars.
