Canada Just Officially Passed The Cannabis Act

Post by HybridAmbassador » Wed Jun 20, 2018 3:56 pm

California now can grow your own Mari-Juana weed if medicinal own consumption that was yesterday's news. Now Canada has passed the law saying that you can cultivate your own weed for own use? I'm pretty sure the young PM Trudeau pushed very hard in order it to pass!

On June 19th, 2018, Canada’s Senate voted to federally legalize recreational cannabis, ending the game of legislative ping-pong with the House of Commons and passing the country’s historic legislation. Bill C-45, also known as The Cannabis Act will still require Royal Assent before Canada becomes the second country on earth to legalize weed nationwide.

The passing of the Cannabis Act is extremely significant as Canadian legalization could act as a model for other G7 and G20 nations. Since each of the country’s provinces and territories has their own regulatory schemes, the world will be witnessing a real-time case study on the most effective ways to regulate legal recreational cannabis.

While consumption and possession of restricted amounts of cannabis will be legalized once The Cannabis Act has achieved Royal Assent, Edibles will not be legalized until 2019. This has caused significant controversy, as it is the preferred method of intake for many cannabis consumers.

Previously, the Senate had passed the Cannabis Act with a number of amendments, which they then sent back to the House to consider. The House added some of the amendments to the legislation but refused to accept others.

Meanwhile we got a lot of voting on the project in the lower house in May.

Approved:
require doctor's prescription
prohibit prescribing combustion, i.e. no smoking
include some bureacracy from the Health Commission

...continued because of the link number limit.

Rejected:
prohibit weed advertisement
add disclaimers about negative health effects abuse
limit the recipe duration and require SAG authorization for growing

Older:
March 2018: the modifications to the healthcare regulations to use cannabis-derived products
July 2015: the modifications to the drug law (20.000) from 2015 that made some immigrants think that it's legal now

For silent forum lurkers:

It's not legal or decriminalized yet.

What the hell, no smoking pot?

I get why that seems like a good idea, but no one is getting cancer from smoking pot; or, at least you are smoking way, way to much pot and cancer is the least of your concerns. It is not ciggerets.

Yeah the synthetic tobacco in cigarrettes are full of toxic chemicals but the "pot" is pure organic and very kosher indeed!

If anyone needs to smoke sufficient pot for the combustian of the organic matter to be a health concern, they need to buy some better pot. Preferibly some one hitter quitter.

You probably inhale more carcengens from the smog standing on any street corner in santiago for 30 mins, than a life time of smoking pot.

It is like the parking garages in chile that have no smoking signs everywhere, while you are surrounded by a hundred cars in an enclosed space belching out tons of far more toxic fumes.

Which i guess all makes sense in the parrell universe the chilean congress lives in. I am still trying to come up with a good use for that yellow jacket they made me buy for my car. I am tempted to put it on my neighbors cow next time it wonders in to by yard. I really can not imagine a better real world use for it.

Here we had a local doctor living in the future: prescribing and selling medical cannabis to his patients... until PDI broke his time traveling machine.
