Chinese Space station crash - High probability for southern Chile

Post by mem » Tue Mar 20, 2018 6:24 pm

Been watching this...if you dig past the "anywhere between 43 degrees north and 43 degrees south" you will see there are two narrow high probability bands of impact from debris

And unfortunatley from between Temuco to Puerto Aysen, is a high probability area in Chile. The space station will be crashing to earth between March 20 - April 6.

Here is an article with the map showing the red bands as high probability:

"High probability for southern Chile"
Really? That could be spectacular. I've not seen any report of probability for any region. Only something like "100 million times less likely than hitting the power-ball" for any person. The article linked says "higher" than some other areas, but not "high."

So how high is "high probability"?

I read an article about a week ago, that said the same thing about Michigan. So I'm pretty confident it'll hit somewhere between the north and south pole.

Pretty sure a helmet made from tin foil will protect you. Unfortunately, tin foil is hard to find and aluminum is a poor substitute. =(

For those interested in real-time tracking of the space station as it crashes into earth...here is a site that shows it

You know i use to believe the 'your chance of being hit are...', then a few years ago mistook an exploding metor over my house in southern chile for just another eruption from the volcano that had been dormit for 50+ years in front of my house, that both moved my house like a 7.0+ earthquake (that given the neighborhood is far more common).

What is the probability of that?

As an old philosophy professor was fond of saying, "even chaose is an ordered system".

When it hits you, your chances are exactly 1.

It looks like it will hit around the coast of Chile!
