Bolivia in court today about Chile and access to the sea

Post by mem » Mon Mar 19, 2018 11:13 am

So i guess bolivia already has access to chilean ports but has to pay fees since 1905. So they arent happy

It seems to me like maybe Chile should consider a deal with Bolivia to import bolivian petroleum and cut the gas prices in chile in exchange for at least more favorable terms for Bolivia

Because of this conflict bolivia wont sell chile petroleum hence (i think) high bencina prices.

You mean natural gas?

They are soooo spited that years ago they once stopped selling to Chile and even prohibited the Argies from selling gas they purchased from Bolivia to Chile.

Latin brotherhood notwithstanding, it would seem more advantageous for Chile to keep charging Bolivia for access and buy gas or petroleum on the open market, building a re-gasification terminal if necessary to bring LNG from anywhere in the world.

The problem is that bolivia is too flaky to do buisness with.

Hell, the war more or less started over bolivia siezing chilean companies assets in bolivia to start with.

Yea bolivia is doing the whole angling for territory argument. If chile really negotiated in "good faith", then they had to have territory on the table from the start is their argument.

Not happening.

What a vile attitude towards a neighbour.

I wonder how Switzerland, Luxemburg, Austria, Czechia, Hungry, Slovakia, Serbia, Macedonia, Belarus, Tajikistan, Laos, Zimbabwe etc. Etc. all survive with out claiming their rights to have land attached to sea!

yea, I seen, and heard, the Bolivian navy once. Their marching band was practicing as I crossed lake titicaca years ago. If they fight like they play instruments, Chile has nothing to worry about.

Bolivia is so full of it. This is all political dog and pony show for moron.

Looks like the case has been decided by the Hague. Decision to be delivered Oct 1

I wonder if they decide in Bolivia's favor, how will Chile respond.i think Chile did not believe in the Hague right to decide this matter, but now it seems they are saying that they follow international law

More like how will the rest of the world respond. El Hoyo I mean La Haya must know they are opening an endless can of worms if they rule against Chile. But if TPTB intent is to create chaos around the globe, then such a decision would make sense.

I am impressed The Santiago Slime is still up and running.
