Quillayes is not NZ owned, what do you mean uses Powder from NZ? , are you referring to the propaganda put out by Colun which claimed Soprole (which is NZ owned) was using powdered milk from NZ for their milk? Which was a lie that Colun use to their advantage after rumors on the internet claimed this.
Ah, ok, Soprole. But everybody has been talking about it since we arrived here, long before the viral campaign this year (created
by the extreme right, by the way). I know a European dairy scientist who is helping COLUN's farms to modernize and she also said that Soprole restores milk from powder imported from NZ.
En la actualidad, uno de cada tres litros que se consume en el mercado local se importó
I doubt that it's imported in a liquid form.
From DF.cl:
So they don't deny that they add the powder..?
In any case, COLUN all the way just because we have enough oligopolies and multinationals already.
Soprole liquid milk in 1 litre tetra packs comes from Chilean dairy farmers, just because NZ owns the company doesn't mean they bring the milk over from NZ.
There is a triangulation of exporting that NZ does with dairy products which was why there was a lot of NZ cheddar a few years ago, they bring NZ products in under free trade agreements to Chile , and were exporting Chilean products to countries NZ didn't have free trade agreements with within Sth America .
There is some milk powder bought in from NZ for ingredients such as cookie and chocolate manufacturing etc, but this doesn't go to 1 litre milk, mainly because it doesn't make economic sense to do that, NZ farmers were getting paid more than Chilean farmers why would they send it here to get 700 pesos a litre, after all that cost.
Just to make clear any imported Powder goes to higher value add products not crappy 1 litre tetra pak, that milk has always come from the unhygenic Chilean dairy farms, that's why it it is UHT treated to get rid of Bruselosis, Luecosis and Tuberculosis which is still found in Chilean dairy herds, in fact imported reconstituted powdered milk would probably be better for you than the slop you will find in the tetra packs available here.
Also,
"Everyone" also claimed that Douglas Tompkins was a jew trying to set up a new Israel in Patagonia for many years, "Everyone" also claims rhere is a white van outside their local school with Colombians ready to kidnap kids for organ harvesting, the point is there are always so many bullshit stories going around in Chile especially when it comes to foreigners coming from "Everyone" that you should take them with a very small grain of salt.
In the Lakes Region Chile for 6 years. It looks like New Zealand in some ways, and is nearly at the bottom of the world too, but there the similarities end.
