Oaxalates.
There are two ways to be fooled.

One is to believe what isn't true;

the other is to refuse to believe what is true.

Posting a picture of fresh walnut shells (a past season harvest's shell would look differently):

We can cut an apple, and count how many seeds it has. If we cut a well developed apple cross section, the ovary has 5 compartments, and each of them should contain 2 seeds, for a total of 10.

My preferred variety in Chile is “Granny Smith”, and my experience shows that about 6 to 8 seeds is quite normal, sometimes they are 9, rarely I have 10, and exceptionally rare -- 11 seeds per apple.

I usually pay CLP $500 per kilo.

A number of practitioners of traditional therapies / folk medicines may sometimes prescribe apricot or peach kernels, apple seeds, and the likes of them. I will NOT comment, nor respond to comments regarding their medical properties, or whether they are a treatment or a health risk.

Speaking of more conventional seeds, in the original post there was a picture of a nice zapallo, here go her seeds:

trying to get the best price --
yet missing what is truly priceless

writing the words, but they'll never hit
that which is beyond language

wrapping rice in lotus leaves:
"perfect discs, rounder than mirrors"

drying water chestnuts:
"needle-sharp, sharper than gimlets"

"step by step, in the dark --
if my foot isn't wet, it found the stone"

{ A simple way to indicate that a person is drunk is to have them sing a drunken song... }
