AlJazeera has won awards in journalism. Good article about hospitals in Chile. https://www.ALJAZEERA IS BANNED/news/2020/05/ ... 49229.html

I am not putting up with their shit reporting about Chile on this forum any more.
For months their reporter in Chile has done nothing but pushing unedited FA and communist party bullshit political line about everything.

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile
We tried to have a covid exam this weekend, as my partner is a doctor studying for psych specialty on Barros Lucos and was having mild cold symptoms since friday night, but simply could not find any private hospital running exams except for Clinica Alemana. So I can only guess all those "new cases" are very very undervalued.
And on the other side, it's unfortunate that doctors studying speacialty are totally unprotected, working without a contract there isn't exactly an internal procedure to follow.

well, the answer is try and find a public clinic to run the test.PXYC wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 11:33 pmWe tried to have a covid exam this weekend, as my partner is a doctor studying for psych specialty on Barros Lucos and was having mild cold symptoms since friday night, but simply could not find any private hospital running exams except for Clinica Alemana. that said, you know I don't find that all that surprising. they said they were going to crackdown. The minister of health went off on the private clinics in Santiago during a press conference a couple weeks ago. The private clinics were running hundreds of tests, on simply paranoid rich people, with no epidemiological information or reason being provided in the national databases. You would probably have to go through the emergency rooms to get tested at one of them now.

here, for example, is the message on the landing page of the website of clinica indesa in Santiago. It was just the first one to came to mind as I happen to have an insurance policy through them (those wankers better give me a test, if I want one).

I always tease my wife that Chileans are a bunch of cultural hypochondriacs. first sign of the sniffles, and it is off to the emergency room.

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile
so, u.s. is banning anyone that has been in brazil in the last 14 days from entering the united states, with a few exceptions for u.s
citizens, there families, flight crews, etc. more interesting is they mention they are considering bans on other south American countries, on a country by country basis.
https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/trump- ... 020-05-24/
now, in practical terms I don't think that means much.

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile
seems a study has determined only 2.9% of chileans so far have antibodies. not very much info in this article, but I had guessed around 3% a few weeks back based on studies in other countries.

yea, if you want herd immunity anytime soon, you are going to need to join a diffrent herd. perhaps cows, or bats, or dolphins.

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile
Sure Al Jazeera has a bias, but so does CNN and the BBC and the Guardian in its reporting of Chile and other countries, are you going to ban all of those? And, if you ban all the left wing sources, do you also ban all the right wing sources. Then, who's left?
If you are banning someone for reporting FA and communist party talking points, does that mean that FA and communist party talking points are banned? That we can't link to statements from their websites, or discuss them?
I think Al Jazeera is fine. Your banning of Al Jazeera is either reactionary and not well thought out, or evidence of your own right wing bias (whether specifically in relation to Chilean politics, or in general). I don't see you banning right-wing supporting view points, in fact many of them you post yourself. Your own posts about "the left" , usually accompanied by swear words and criticisms, are more biased than anything I've ever seen on Al Jazeera.
Banning websites for political bias is a tricky road to go down.

Lol! I didn't realize he actually banned the site. I thought he was just going on a rant. I went back in the thread and saw a BANNED embedded in the link. I almost spit out my coffee I was laughing so hard.
Man - I wish I had that kind of power. I don't even have the power to chose what I eat for dinner half the time.
