What do you use as alternative to DaP?
Here in Chile I just use DaP because it seems safer and a no worries solution, I tend to select more riskier investments in my homecountry, not in Chile.
It is true that inflation just eats any interest profits though..

As a starter, a small apartment in a high demand sector, should give you around 5% return from rents, plus your place should give as a minimum a constant UF value, ie covers inflation. So in effect you are getting inflation + 5% a year. I certainly wouldnt classify this type of investment as risky.

Hm.. buying an apartment for renting is a bigger commitment than what I'm looking for right now.paladin wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 10:35 pmAs a starter, a small apartment in a high demand sector, should give you around 5% return from rents, plus your place should give as a minimum a constant UF value, ie covers inflation. still I look at them as a place to save or park money, not to invest for any great length of time. no CD in the world right now is providing much of a return with interest rates so low.

Trump did something stupid
the central bank stopped the intervention
the last drop below 750 was more about the run on copper
did I mention, Trump did something really stupid.

Trump doing something stupid? Who would of thunk it?
Yeah the economic projections for 2020 just went out the window for the whole world in the first week of it.

Not really buy big military quickly, the US will either use it or need it.....not sure which yet!
It's all about the wine.
Re: Pesos and Protests
you know a few years back, I made some (obvious) investment moves like that. I made lots of money. I did not sleep well because of it. I realized I need a good nights sleep, more than more money.nwdiver wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2020 9:40 pm41southchile wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2020 9:33 pmTrump doing something stupid? Who would of thunk it?

now, that is not to say I am not willing to make money off of headlines, just worked out less morally "icky" ways to do it.
for example, oil price rises. don't invest in oil. go green energy related investments.

Re: Pesos and Protests
By the way, in a middle east oil disruption of any size, green energy related investments is like a mega leveraged play on oil; while it takes a bite out of the energy market permanently.

Yes, green energy investment are a nice play at the moment as diesel starts to hit 700 CLP.
