chile's migration crisis

Re: chile's migration crisis
seriously though, the Trump campaign and "helpers" are gearing up millions of spammers, astroturfing, bots, and other general bad actors on the internet, mostly hired out of east block, asian, indian, type sweat shops to unload on the internet a tsunami of right wing trump crap for the election.
I am putting together my own denial list for the server for countries, ip blocks, and ISP database to block them.

Re: chile's migration crisis
Well, “la visa del pillo Piñera” is $50 a pop, single use only so I guess that’s the end of our shopping trips to Santiago as well as finally building on our ground in the south of Chile. I guess Chile isn’t interested in any goodwill when Venezuela finally recovers.admin wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2019 7:32 pmwe are working through our contacts in the government to try and get a meeting with the working group at the foriegn affairs ministry in charge of immigration, to see if we can get them to issue some consistent directives to the consulates around the world regarding the new rules for visas, procedures, and the problems with the new computer system. right now it is major disaster on the ground as far as day to day implementation.
I will post a new thread, as soon as we have confirmation, related to it with more details.
I read the invitees to the conference in Chile we’re allowed to go, the others were deboarded in Maiquetia for a requirement they couldn’t possibly have met. Way to go.
As far as the quality of immigrants is concerned, Chile already imposed a requirement to have $500 cash entering Chile even with a through ticket. Add that to the approx $500 for a bus ticket from Caracas and you’re not talking impoverished Venezuelans anymore. El pillo Piñera just needed to give a gratuitous poke in the eye.
Caracas es Caracas. Lo demás es monte y culebra!
Re: chile's migration crisis
well how much are immigrants costing chile?
goverment is saying 360 million dollars a year.
https://www.biobiochile.cl/noticias/eco ... ones.shtml
now, i know in the big picture of things, that is a pretty reasonable and manageable number, especially if you factor in a return on that money from increasing productivity, etc, etc.
if you are a poor or middle class chilean, it is a great big 'what the F#$K'.

Re: chile's migration crisis
but i still think the biggest bill to come will be the public health system.
they are trying to spin the explosion in HIV cases as a lack of prevention, which it sort of is, by the health department.
https://www.biobiochile.cl/noticias/nac ... cion.shtml
but, those number match up almost perfectly with the statistical prevelence of HIV among the countries of origin of the new immigrant population. especialy haiti and Venezuela.

Re: chile's migration crisis
and today, pinera announced the military will be providing logistical and other support to the police on the northern part of chile.
https://www.latercera.com/politica/noti ... as/735909/
which, for a military that does not have much to do, is probably a goid thing, as long as they leave the law enforcement to the PDI and carbinareios.
now they are selling this as to stop the drug traffickers and gangs on the boarders, but we all know what they are really doing. even if just indirectly.

Re: chile's migration crisis
When 13-year-olds are allowed to stay out till 5am at weekends, what do you expect? And woe betide the parent who tries to curtail their kids "freedom"....although many parents don't particularly care either as they are out doing the same things as their kids, drinking, drugging and shagging. Yeah, must be the government's fault.....

Re: chile's migration crisis
if everyone in chile, shagged everyone else in chile, you still would not get to that statistical spike; well, at least not right away. HIV is not ebola or the plague, and it takes a long time to be even detectable, after exposure.fraggle092 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2019 12:48 amWhen 13-year-olds are allowed to stay out till 5am at weekends, what do you expect? Re: chile's migration crisis
It was a problem well before the Haitians arrived.
.
Its all just another example of the rejection of traditional cultural values in favour of the non-judgemental and individualistic attitudes currently so popular. Perhaps using "influencers" would be a better way to get across the health hazards of uncontrolled behaviour, given the masses unquestioning acceptance of the other bs on their cellphones.
From an excellent article on another modern public health issue in this month's Atlantic: Why is Measles back?
.
At the end of July, a UNAIDS report found Chile was the Latin American country with the highest percentage of new HIV infections since 2010, raising alert about a problem that wasn't completely unknown in Chile, but has been underestimated by authorities.
https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countr ... infections"The rise in HIV infections is particularly high among teens and young adults," says immunologist Alejandro Afani, who directs the HIV Center of the Universidad de Chile's Clinic Hospital. "For them, sex is part of entertainment, of partying. They don't like to use condoms and sex education barely exists in schools."

In many ways, the post-1960s emphasis on autonomy and personal choice has been liberating. But it can threaten public health.
It’s quite another to dismiss decades of studies on the benefits of vaccines because you’ve watched a couple of YouTube videos.

I have seen those stats before. I don't buy them. Another case of, 'yea, Chile has the the worse stats in latin america for X, except for all the rest'; because all the rest are not reporting their stats.fraggle092 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2019 10:55 amIt was a problem well before the Haitians arrived.

Do you seriously buy that Venezuela has better stats (we at best have a guesstimate out of Venezuela)? Colombia? Brazil? El salvador? Guatemala? Mexico? Argentina? etc, etc?
That is, countries with overwhelmed health care systems, massive national debts, even bigger migration flows, Crime levels that are so violently out of control they look worse that war zones, and every reason and opportunity for politicians to down play their stats, if they even have them at all, due to the corruption.
Places with thriving human trafficking and outright sex slavery. For example, Argentina has such a problem with young girls being kidnapped and sold in to prostitution, we put a very, very short leash on our two 14 year old nieces last year when we were on vacation with the family in Argentina. They were simply never allowed to go anywhere alone, at any time.
They are not even doing anything about their sex trafficking problem, let alone all the problems that go with it.
So, yea, I think those are full on bullshit stats.

Darwinism in action - a linear increase since 2006.

Re: chile's migration crisis
well, at least on the other side of the ledger, 93% of the people applying to take the medical license test are foriegners. a lot of them are venezuelans.
which is nice for chile, but a little disturbing considering what happens to Venezuelan health system, even if the political / economic problems get resolved.

interesting, only some 30% pass the theory test, but about 90% pass the practical test.
