Re: chile's migration crisis

Well here we are. August 1st, and no sign of any sort of changes to the law or procedures for immigration.

We are canvasesing all our contacts at immigration across the country for any news, external or internal, official and unofficial, and will post any news we find.

As of yesterday, our contacts confirmed that they were still using all the existing old rules to accept aications, and had no new instructions or changes.

immigration official notice

Post by admin » Wed Aug 01, 2018 1:43 pm

Well here we go. Officialy nothing has changed:
Si. A la fecha cualquier persona que esté en calidad de turista puede cambiar su estatus migratorio y tramitar una visa de residencia en Chile
And nothing is going to change until the law is changed.

So foreigners may still enter the country under a tourist visa, and file for residency.

Ahh naaaaa. If there is such a thing, it has a total lack of vision

I subscribe to the 'United Federation of Planets' plan.

Which turns out you can also be a socialist and have everything turn out just fine, as long as you figure out the whole replicator thing first.

Without the replicator, good luck.

Admin, I must have missed that episode. What is so special about the replicator that it allows one to be socialist, and everything turns out just fine? What specifically does it do?

Bachoshit,
in collaboration with the UN, Soros, etc.
for the shameless massive uncontrolled Haitian and other immigration into Shile...
Mission accomplished!
And here is your well deserved reward from the taxpayers of the world:

Bachelet sería la nueva jefa de Derechos Humanos en la ONU

Regardless of what you think of bachelet, that is one pointless deadend position; especially these days where pretty much every member of the security council has gutted its purpose for even existing and all of its power to do anything. Not like it ever did much of anything, but at least the position was at one time a useful idiot of the u.s.a against the soviet union and china. Now even that job description was ended with the spat over isreal and other things the trump administration decided it did not like.

Hate to say "Told You So". But I did, several times. Bachelet will be keeping a weather eye open on the Chilean political scene and given half a chance, she'll be back for the next presidential elections. That's my prediction for 2021.

Crap president but a smooth political operator who typifies the worst characteristics of the international liberal elite.

Now now...the great chilean hope is that Pinera will make chile great again and no chilean would dare vote back in a socialist clown (even a smooth one) in light of the amazing improvements Pinera made by the time his term elapses. Cutting the public debt shamelessly would be a great first step...which he did already in his last term and is well on the way to doing it again

Piñera spent a lot of money on disaster recovery after the 2010 earthquake. I read that one of the credit agencies maintain that Chile's financial deterioration started during his first term. But at least the money was used in a (re)constructive way, as opposed to dishing out bonos to all and sundry and hiring hordes of overpaid bureaucrats.

I guess if you are an unemployed socialist x-president from latin america, that is not the worst eay to retire. You just need to shut your mouth, and drink the wine at the dinner parties in new york.

Her going back to the u.n. was not a suprise. She even mentiined she wanted to go back at one point in an interview.

Ah moodys is full of shit. I read that credit report. It says nothing about anything, but somehow justifies a down grade?

The report contradicted itself, and their own reports going back to 2010. I can just smell goldman sacks, jpmoron, and moron stanly written all over it, loading up on cheap chilean debt.

They just did the same thing for all the major banks in chile today. Again another report that the justification for the downgrade makes no sense. I mean gibbierish double speak all the way through the report. Like they were purposly trying to say nothing to avoid being taken to court.

What great Chilean hope?
Chileans can exhibit a brutal disregard for others, and don't care about anything else as long as they personally are doing OK. You may have seen this statement from a union leader in La Escondida when asked not to persist with the massive CLP $25.000.000 bono (apart from the salary increases and other benefits) that the miners are demanding, as it would harm the Chilean economy:
Continuó Tapia: “Y me dijo ‘no pueden hacer eso. Van a cagar al país’ (carcajadas de los asistentes a la asamblea). Lo único que atinó a decir fue van a cagar al país, y ¿quién ve por nosotros? Entonces, ¡que se vaya el país a la chucha!”, añadió entre aplausos.
Yeah, a real patriot that one.

I'm all right, Jack.

Unless you are being ironic, I'm afraid you are overestimating the extents of presidential power.
