I'm wondering if it's going to be used as an excuse for mandatory "vaccinations" (aka population control).

First seven months as of 26 July: 44.289

...se han detectado redes de trata de personas que incentivan, en Haití, la inmigración hacia Chile.

Wow. That is a lot for Chile to absorb, in all manners and ways.

And that is those who entered using Haiti docs at PDI incoming immigrations. We don't know about those who entered using illegally obtained docs of other countries (I have it on very good word that other Haitians have been coming in via land up north using Bolivian docs) or like the idiotic Guardian article which made it seem like they were all walking through desert minefields to get here.

The supposed reason Chile's USA VWP status will be reviewed early next year is lack of inegrety in ID docs. There was the Registro Civil scandal regarding extranjeros being issued cedulas after claiming they were Chileans born to gypsies and now the uncontrolled entry of immigrants some no doubt using illegal docs now or soon to be on the path to future Chilean citizenship. Throw in what crawled under the past amensty program and what will in the future one...

so, the head count is something north of 80,000+, for the last two years. Probably north of 100,000, as the great haitan migration really started the year before.

So, essentially, we now have an additional 100,000+ poor people (not counting immigrants from the local neighborhood) that will consume public finances, suck more out of the strained social services, vote extreme left, and not even make sufficient money to qualify to pay income taxes for probably at least another generation, all while sending money home and depressing wages at the low end of the market for poor Chileans.

We are looking at about 20 -30 years of net lost to the country, to support those immigrants, before Chile starts seeing any sort of economic payback (in theory).

And, the other foreigners, with educations and investment money, will have to jump through ever increasing hoops to fight to spend their money in Chile.

f*n brain surgeons in this administration.

ironically, that 100,000 number makes for a nice statistical breakdown, as the WHO and everyone else seems to rank their numbers by cases per 100,000 people.

So, statistically (not sure how good my stats are from a quick google, but it is a lot), based on the how prevalent various infectious diseases are in Haiti's population, we should have about 2000+ cases of TB and about 6% of the population has HIV (as of 2002 stats, prior to the earthquake, but seems to have gone down in recent years).

Seems haiti has an issue with people with HIV contracting TB. People forget that HIV by itself, controlled is not really all the dangerous. What is dangerous is people with HIV are easy carriers of other far more infectious dieses due the immune system not working. Mix those two, with a none-existent health system, never mind maleria, zika, various other infectious dieses, and that is a lot of warm bodies for the Chilean public health system to absorb. We are probably looking at 8,000 to 10,000 people with some sort of infectious dieses. Throw in various other chronic, and but not infectious conditions, and drain on the public health care system is big.
