Great news from Spain :D Starting from Monday those who have been vaccinated 14 days previously will be allowed to enter Spain. Official announcement with all the details will be published later. Here is the link to the article:

Now, we just need to see when Chile opens its borders. IMO, I am not sure it's gonna happen in the nearest future, but the current deadline (June, 15) might indicate the government has something in mind for earlier re-opening

These policies are completely retarded, the virus has been widespread in the local population for months. It's trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube when you've already emptied half of it.

Absurd policy - I can only think it is politically based. If the president allows vaccinated Chileans to travel internationally, then it would give a local backlash. The typical "the rich can go to Miami, but the poor has to stay in their tiny apartments" kind of thing. This might be correct, but fact is, as Otravers states, this is a completely ridiculous policy that doesn't do anything to control the pandemic.

So we should expect a decision soon about what is happening in July with regards to borders?
Or will it be like the feriado decision and they will let people know 5 days before the 30th?

Had a chat with my oldest grandson who is in 4° medio. According to his statement (to be taken with a grain of salt) half of his classmates have travelled to Europe for summer vacation in the past 2-3 weeks.
For the "Solicitud Extraordinaria de Viaje al Extranjero" the reason seems to be either "para residir en el exterior" mostly for the many dual passport holders and por "motivos esenciales para la salud" for the remainder. I believe this is largely an exageration, but also wonder how they fill the 4-5 daily flights to Europe and the US.
If true it sort of reminds me of the institutionalized lying about your residence at the moment of contracting marriage in Chile in the 1970's and 1980's. In the absence of the divorce (which was not an option) it gave everybody the civil anulment possibility.

So still no news from these morons with 7 days till the 30th when it is supposed to be closed till.??
Tried applying online for 14th July exit and was rejected for ‘insufficient evidence’ to leave.
I sent them copies of enrollment at kids schools in NZ , one way airfares, copies of NZ passports and still it was rejected.
Morons, Surely it’s better to let people leave especially those with citizenship in other country, just multa me if try and come back or whatever while borders are still closed, but I wouldn’t be able to if they don’t issue me a permit to re enter anyway?
Seems pointless

Where is the effing issue? so much bullshit.

It's probably because they have to extend the constitutional state of catastrophe to be able to continue the border closure, and that depends on the congressional vote. Right now it's not guaranteed that it will be extended, at least in its current form. My understanding is that they cannot legally maintain the border closed if the constitutional suspension comes to an end.

That sounds absurd. I got permission to leave due to sickness in my close family. Had to try 3 times - keep trying would be my strong suggestion. If you are leaving the country for good, then that is a very valid reason

Supposedly incoming "citizens" are a different story as my wife's blacksheep brother in now chaotic Colombia will be entering Chile in early July.
Que será, será.
