Quarantine requirements for all travelers to Chile (UPDATE 2, Jan 7th)

Post by admin » Tue Dec 29, 2020 3:02 pm

UPDATE:

Any resident or citizen arriving in the country without a negative PCR test will be fined 3 million pesos, and required to complete a 10 day quartine at sanitary hotel.

UPDATE:

o.k., minister of health has "clarified" the requirements to travel to Chile.

Starting January 7th, 2021,

All foreigners, residents, and citizens must now have a negative PCR test, no older than 72 hours, to board a plane to Chile.

Further, all foreigners, residents, and citizens must complete a 10 day quarantine, that may be lifted with negative PCR test on the 7th day.

Anyone arriving without a negative PCR test, will be returned to their destination. That is typically done to make sure the airlines take this requirement seriously.

Re: Chile closing boarder again (developing)

Post by admin » Tue Dec 29, 2020 3:18 pm

o.k., another fine half-baked communication mess from the government.

It seems this goes in to effect on 31st of December.

we are looking for confirmation on that.

This seems, for the moment, that this is just further restrictions on citizens and permanent residents that have traveled to the UK in the last 14 days.

however, the internet is on fire with people screeming across the political spectrum for a full boarder closure.

which, is probably a silly waist of effort as that varient of covid-19 is certainly already in the country.

that said, the Chilean government tends to bend to political winds pretty easily. Expect more announcements shortly.

chilean citizen flew from Dubai to chile, via madrid and London, on the 21st of December, with a negative PCR test.

she then flew jetsmart to temuco, and then traveled to her house in Panguipulli, where a few days later she developed covid, that turned out to be the UK varient.

They are asking anyone that flew jetsmart, Temuco / santiago, on the 22nd to contact the minister of health.

Re: Chile new boarder restrictions, possible closure (developing)

The obvious question is what the hell.was the government thinking.

They implemented new measures for foriegners that had traveled to the U.K., but did not implement new measures for chileans and permanent residents?

The analogy you shared of using a chain fence to keep out mosquitos was spot on. Once again, no self-respecting virus will respect borders or border closures.

That is funny.

I was just thinking about posting that again, and thought it was over using that analogy.

It is obviously a pretty good one; unfortunately can not take credit for it. it was an epidemiologist in an article that said it about the united states.

The new “U.K.” strain has been found in a sample from Germany from November now anyway so as a lot of people have already predicted, this ripper is going to be already everywhere. Still I’d keep the U.K. specific restrictions because we’re hitting new lows in terms of case numbers and hospitalisations, and of course our government is still in denial about it!

Reports of the UK hospital system on the verge of collapse, whatever that means, 53000 daily cases today.

over on the covid thread, I posted that brazil found the spike mutation in their samples dating back to April.

It not however that is in circulation; but, is it the dominate form of covid in circulation. guess in london it went from beimg less thsn 25%, to whatever it is now since September.

For clarity,

No one that is not a resident or citizen of Chile, can enter Chile if they have been in the UK in the last 14 days.

yea, the other day, the good doctor picked-up on a very small detail on the U.S. CDC hospitalization report they are publishing: it is 5 weeks behind now.

It use to be like 24 to 48 hours old prior to the trump administration.

Then when the pandemic hit, it fell a couple weeks behind, plus the trump administration messing with the stats.

now, it is over 5 weeks behind.

No one really knows (or the public anyway) the real hospital status in the full united states. yet, all the localized info says they are down to zero or near zero ICU beds in most of the united states.

Funny how flu cases have dropped to almost zero. Hmmmmmm....???

Oh well. The sky is falling! The sky is falling!!

More arbitrary government decrees. Did anybody freak out when the flu shot was different every year? No until now.

This is horseflop. Try malaria or yellow fever. This is worldwide political theatre.
