Here in Valpo, when entering a shop or a supermarket, you are forced to use liquid hand sanitiser. This is not always clear whether this is alcohol based or ammonium based. Actually, for sure, I smelled alcohol only once.

Here is the today's news from Viña:

"...Fourteen officials from the Sapu de Gómez Carreño in Viña del Mar were poisoned with quaternary ammonium, which is used to sanitize facilities in the health care facility.

Viña del Mar firefighters arrived to this emergency to ventilate the place and establish the origin of the material that produced this contamination in the health care facility..."

"14 funcionarios del SAPU Gómez Carreño en Viña del Mar terminaron intoxicados con amonio cuaternario"
The general population seems to be pretty ignorant of basic chemistry in Chile.

At one point a few years back the number one killer in chile was poisoning, especially among men (I am sure some were a quick divorce, but not all).

For years I have made sure to monitor our housekeepers for where and what cleaners they use, after catching one in the act of mixing a bunch of chemicals together to clean the floors that do not play nicely together. I caught another one in the act of using oven cleaner on the counters. After that, pretty much soap and water will do most jobs for general purpose cleaning.

If they need something more industrial, they got to ask me about it and I will find them something to get that particular job done without killing us all. There was a study some years ago that showed housewives and housekeepers were having higher than normal levels of cancer and respiratory related dieses because they are regularly exposed to volatile chemicals for long periods of time.

So, decided best for everyone concerned if a little more elbow grease and a lot more water (the universal solvent) will get the job done, as much as a highly volatile toxic chemical.

here is the letter of over 200 experts on the issue of airborne covid aerosol to the WHO:

https://academic.oup.com/cid/article/do ... chresult=1

The WHO is fighting this primarily because its' political handlers don't want them issuing even stronger guidance because of the economic / political cost of doing things like say shutting down public transportation, forcing businesses to install expensive air purification systems, etc.

How do you convince people it is safe to go back to work and school, when the WHO is saying it is airborne?

so here is something interesting among many articles kind of recirculating the same info about aerosolized covid debate.

https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/07/06/heal ... index.html
In buildings, carbon dioxide monitors can help managers know if the air is being refreshed properly, Milton said. Outdoors in an urban area, he said, carbon dioxide levels are about 350 parts per million in the air. Exhaled breath carries about 38,000 parts per million of carbon dioxide. Indoors, he said, if the air has 1,000 parts per million carbon dioxide content or less, "that's pretty good," Milton said.
WHO today acknowledged the role, and says they are releasing new guidelines on it; but it sounded more like cover their ass politics after being caught with their pants down again.

I had thought some time ago about how do you things like open offices, restaurants, etc in a world with no vaccine, etc.

I keep thinking about 25 years ago in las vegas they opened the first no smoking casino.

well, it went bankrupt. turns out most serious gamblers are not too worried about smoking.

when it was finally reopened, what they did was install mega vents over every machine and table, so a none-smoker could sit next to a smoker, and never smell the smoke. all air went straight up the vent, no matter where you were in the casino.

we have had none-stop military helicopters and airplanes over our house all day; and it is particularly odd in that there is a mega storm in the region and it is night. kind of thing you don't fly in by choice.

puerto montt must be on real fire with the covid cases.

Frutillar also has a fast growing bunch of clusters in town.

55,000+ cases today in the United States

41,000+ in Brazil + 1 bolsonaro

yea, that is going well. I am sure it is just "little flue" that will "just go away".

The USA has 8-10 times more tests done than Brazil, though. The real numbers in Brazil will most likely never be known due to that.
