There is some data on corovac from outside of China, as perhaps you know

Brazil announced results on January 13 2021 showing 50.4% effective at preventing symptomatic infections, 78% effective in preventing mild cases needing treatment, and 100% effective in preventing severe cases.[9] Phase III results from an interim analysis of a small sample were announced by Turkey on December 24 2020 with an efficacy of 91.3%.[10] Additional results were announced by Indonesia on January 11 2021 with an efficacy of 65.3%

There was a Press release; and the Chinese were not happy about that.

Basically a leak is what we have; not scientifically verifiable data.

To put it another way, our best source of data on the sinovac vaccine should not be wikipedia.

Hell, I am half tempted to get my hands on a dose of the vaccine, just to see what is in it put of curiosity. I got gentleman's C in biochemistry.

I am only half joking about the above.

I have a family member that has lupos and allergies, and has already had an extreme allergic reaction to a Chinese made vaccine. It was not the vaccine, but the preservatives used.

So last night I picked up my mother in law from dyalisis.

she told me that the doctor in charge of the dyalisis center had told her that he did not think that they would vaccinate the dyalisis patients with sinovac; but,they had no communication from the government about anything related to the plan about vaccination.

The government has now confirmed that they will be using the pfizer vaccine for dyalisis patients,

3 family members have been vaccinated so far and it appears like this is the approach:
Most vulnerable, ie +85, living in care assisted housing etc -> Pfizer
60-85 olds - > Sinovac
Healthcare workers -> Sinovac (at least now - I think the most critical ones received Pfizer early on)
Education staff -> Pfizer

On a sidenote, if you have had problems with allergic reactions, then apparently they will give you Sinovac.
This is in Santiago - Could be that there is no logic behind, but my guess is that above is the current process. Furthermore, I think it is purely based on logistics. Ie, the total number of Pfizer available more or less align with the amount of teachers that need to vaccinated...

I have seen no news on giving pfizer to teachers or education al staff, mostly because there are too many of them and they also as a group are generally much younger.

also giving sinovac to people with allergies makes no sense.

I have a family member with lupas, that had an extreme reaction to a Chinese vaccine a few years ago. It is not the vaccine, but the other agents in the vaccine that typically cause the reaction. As we have no idea what goes in the mystery brew of the Chinese, and no scientific data on alergy studies, that would be extremely irrisponcible of anyone to do it.

so, the decision to give pfizer to dyalis patients at the dyalisis centers is not so much a pfizer vs. sinovac thing, as a cold chain storage thing. It is simply easier, logistically to give it at the fully equipped dyalisis clinics.

Who knows- The family member that works in a school got the Pfizer whereas the health worker got Sinovac. That might not be a pattern, could be coincidence as well.

Our municipality announced that they have received Pfizer for teachers. Because of the storage issues, they have reserved one Cesfam for giving out those vaccines. Everyone else gets their Sinovac at the 8 other locations.
