so seems to be some early evidence that the virus was in the wild and spreading back in December in los angels California.

https://www.theblaze.com/2020/04/12/cor ... cember/amp

I am curious if they turn-up antibodies in lab samples and blood banks back in December.
Maybe.....I think they should be looking at that, but China is doing it's best to push the narrative and timeline back.....they want something credible to push the timeline back to the 2019 Military Games in Wuhan so they can blame it on the US.

Government report today:

6th week since the first case in Chile.

312 new cases, 7,525 confirmed cases so far

2 deaths, 82 total

85,000 tests, but they only conducted 2000 yesterday (long weekend). expect a spike later this week as the weekend stats catchup.

guess the virus does not work on weekends.

FYI, the deaths in Chile are about 4.4 per million.

The U.S. is around 62 deaths per million (that we know of).

2,367 considered recovered.

seems a diplomatic fight has broken out over the president of Argentina misrepresenting Chilean covid data in a presentation to the country to justify whatever he doing over there.

Sounds like Argentina were directing their criticisms at Brazil, Chile just got caught in the crossfire.

So with so many less people traveling over Easter it resulted in 60 percent less deaths and injuries from road accidents and hundreds of arrests of people wanted that had warrants out for them due to the increased police checkpoints and controls.

interesting just had an airforce black hawk buz my house at a particular low level, headed south bound to puerto montt.

15+ years in southern chile never seen one of them; because Chile does not have a whole lot of them. they dont deploy them down south much.

This story disappeared again on this side of the Andes, nobody was much interested in Piñera's attempts to defend his handling of the crisis... my opinion is that Piñera and Mañalich made a mess of their crisis response (hamfisted curfews, partial quarantines, measures that encourage people to gather), and that's the story the deaths per million inhabitants is telling - Argentina's is half of Chile's (Piñera's table here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sF1PcU ... E8yv5/view).

There's a good argument to be made that Argentina isn't testing enough, but in the end it's the number of people dying that count. Like I said before, it's difficult to hide desperately sick and dying, and I don't think Argentina is doing that.

Fernandez' core policy has been the quarantine, with the resulting social distancing, and he gives credit to that for flattening the curve here, plus he's used the time to build up resources for the medical system. I'm as surprised as anyone here that Argentina managed to get it together for this crisis.

just in case there is anyone left that was not aware of this, LATAM is suspending all its international flights starting the 13th until the 30th. I believe that is the last of the international flights for a while.

I guess if you were planning to get in or out, last chance.

It was announced today that the comunas in total quarantine list will be updated every Tuesday (starting tomorrow) and that more will be entering then leaving the list.

another example of how the united states number of deaths are as fake as the numbers in wuhan.

AP estimates 3,600 deaths in nursing homes in the united states, but almost no state includes them or tests those that die from covid.

https://komonews.com/amp/news/coronavir ... 04-13-2020

those are just the ones they can track, as most are kept secret for "privacy reasons".
