When was it 450? Friday? So its doubling in about 4 days at the moment, think it's been doubling between every 2 and 4 days for the last 2 weeks ? So if that trend continues because there's no reason it shouldn't , community transmission is well underway isn't it? So by this time next week , we can expect about 4000 cases.

Yea, so far, it looks like no country has been able to put the breaks on this acceleration of cases, once they hit about a 1,000.

Once you got a 1,000 cases (confirmed or implied), then it is very good chance to get to say 8,000 to 10,000 in a couple of weeks. No one for instance seems to be able to say stop at say 2,000 or 3,000 cases, and level off.

I am sticking to my prediction that we enter the peak around then end of April. Probably will run out for another 4 weeks after that. Say June before we start seeing any stabilization in the numbers.

the minister of health had a message for Barbie and anyone else in the government that might know about cases: shut-up!

his reason was simple. we don't want people finding out family died on TV, before the family has been notified.

The Israelis have a very interesting model of how to balance their economy and the potential dangers of the Corona Virus from what I read a few days ago. Everyone in the lethal risk group is put into quarantine, and everyone else goes to work. If you show symptoms, go into self-isolation but after 14 days, get back on the horse and go to work. The chances of actual death if under 60 years of age is low, so the calculated risk will maintain the economy and protect those who are most in danger of kicking the bucket.

so the u.s. broke through 40,000 today, 25,000 in new york.

the vast majority of confirmed cases seems to be in new york, because new york is ramping up the testing. How many cases are really out in the rest of the country where they are not testing?

WHO says the u.s. has the potential to be the next epicenter:

Yea, I was smelling a rat in Argentina's numbers.

They have only been able to process 100 tests per day.

supposedly this week they will be bringing more testing capacity online, but.... too late.

https://www.batimes.com.ar/news/argenti ... nded.phtml

I am seeing a running theme among many south American countries, with articles being very vague with their testing capacity or how much they are testing or who is getting the test; while politicians and officials are slapping eachother on the back about their low numbers.

Brace for impact.

Peru is striking me as a little more realistic with 395 confirmed cases, but I am almost certain they are also under testing.

they have vast parts of the country that are isolated on the one hand, yet visited by millions of foriegners every year.

so I was able to find some info on Peru.

they have only 400 respirators in the country, with only 350 ICU beds, half are currently occupied.

with a population of 32 million people.

yea, that is not going to end well.

I was looking at some of the African countries. there are countries with 2 respirators for the entire country.

but it was pointed out, even if someone was to donate thousands of respirators, there simply is no medical specialist, doctors, nurses, to run them. they also have power issues in many areas, and lack even simple oxygen tanks.
