The Naviera Austral office workers in Chaiten say that ferries to Chiloe are suspended because the island is now under quarantine. the ferries are stopped for sure but have to trust what they say about the quarantine is true.

It is the weekend again. brace for another dump of bad news.

I would not be surprised if they don't implement some sort of nation wide lockdown; at least Santiago or the central region.

some groups are taking a stab at going through the courts to close route 68 and quarantine region Valparaiso.

doubt that is going anywhere, and they know it; but as a publicity stunt it works.

About a half an hour ago, the mayor of San Antonio declared that tonight or the beginning of tomorrow San Antonio will close access especially to those from RM. Can he do this?

There are two ways to be fooled.

One is to believe what isn't true;

the other is to refuse to believe what is true.

No, legally he cant , these fucking mayors are no worse than people panicking and buying excess toilet paper, they need to calm the fuck down and stop doing reactionary shit. Look towards the examples of Singapore, Taiwan or Hong Kong for how to handle this, who have been able to control it and keep things open and operating for the 95 percent of the population that wont be critical cases(or whatever the number is) . Test and isolate the positive (not in their friggin house) this reactionary lockdown bullshit serves nobody. Chile is not Italy, and the mayors are ignorant idiots.

The u.s. medical system is already in code red like itialy and Madrid; the government is simply not testing. no test, nothing to report.
But in response to growing shortages of PPE, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has loosened its guidelines on proper use and reuse of masks. On Thursday, the agency advised that bandanas and scarves could be used by health care workers in place of a mask as a last resort.

“The fact that a recommendation like that came out from the Centers for Disease Control is mind boggling to me,” said Dr. Adam Friedlander, an emergency physician working in Atlanta.

“There was a time when a recommendation came from the CDC, we knew that it was evidence-based guidelines for how we could protect ourselves from becoming sick with a potentially fatal illness. Now we know the recommendations are coming from a place of desperation, acknowledging that these supplies are unavailable.”

I do have faith in Chile actually, they seem to be copying what they have been doing in Singapore, people who test positive stay at a hotel, govt has already booked thousands of rooms out. No tourist so good rates :lol: Home isolation doesn't work because of stupid fucks like the guy in Osorno who went to the notaria while he was supposedly in home isolation or the idiot who flew down to Temuco from Santiago also meant to be in isolation.
test test and test and put the positives in isolation is the only way, I am hopeful the govt will get that, there are enough professionals here, why screw those in society completely that don't even have it?
