Regardless of your voting preference, if you can - DO IT!
The outcome will determine the future of Chile for many years, and will affect you personally.

I also have my suspicions that the powers that be, after reflecting on it a bit, realized this was their big chance to control the writing of a new constution to their liking.

The left that think they are going to copy and paste the communist manifesto likly have a very rude awaking coming. I just don't see the rich and powerful in chile rolling over to accept some half baked attempt at turning chile in to some socialist bullshit country. They have already been there and done that, and they sure are not interested in repeating it.

The little wankers in plaza itialia might think they have achieved something, but they were just given some leash to vent. The evidence of that was obvious when they tried to move their protest in to the rich nieghborhoods.

Remember, the rich in chile; don't live in chile. They live in a parrell dimension. Evidence of that is every time a politician opens their mouth in chile, left, right, or center.

I have noticed that many declared Rechazo voters reject the dangerous and costly blank cheque of a new constitution, but are fed up with the status quo. They have seen far too many examples of government mismanagement over the last 20 years. That's why political parties are unambiguously anchored at the bottom of institutional approval ratings in the polls.

Now both sides in this issue want "change" without even outlining their proposals. Since the debate is being controlled by the political system that I believe is the root cause of the current troubles, don't see a happy outcome whatever the result of the Plebiscite.

Today is the day to check if you are a vocal de mesa as you only have this week to submit an excuse.

You can also use that same link to check the address you are registered to vote.

However, if it´s wrong, it´s too late to be allowed to change it before this referendum, but do so after.

However, you are still allowed to go to the wrong location and vote. If the location is out of date that doesn´t stop you from voting.

Just reading up on this: here are some useful links I found for those that are also like me a bit behind:
https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plebiscit ... le_de_2020
https://www.gob.cl/plebiscito2020/
https://www.chileatiende.gob.cl/fichas/ ... titucional
https://www.servel.cl/conozca-todas-las ... 2020-2022/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_Chil ... plebiscite

It looks like "apruebo" will cruise to victory this month in what is really the first round, but of course the final constitution isn´t voted on until 2022. A lot can change until then.

I am still a bit unclear on how, in April 2021, they will select the people that will write the constitution - in case of a yes vote. It looks like they have to apply rather than random selection like a lottery....and then they have to be elected....by popular vote I think?...that anyone can vote in?? ..Do you just vote for the people applying on behalf of your town/community/region?

Would be interested to know more about that. Has anyone got any good links, or can explain that part of it.

Also, I assume both the October 25th, 2020 vote and the potential 2022 vote on the constitution can be passed with 50.01% of the vote, right? Most of the info doesn´t actually say....I am assuming if it needed 60% or 66% they would say that, so presumably they just need over 50% to pass? Does anyone know for sure?

Heads up, check Servel site again to see if you have been chosen as an alternate vocal.

supposedly you are allowed on election day now to move around with just your ID for election purposes in areas under quarantine (only for the election, seperate permission needed for everything else).

which was a good thing. otherwise I would have preferred to go fishing.

So - probably we should read the current constitution before voting on it?

Looks like it´s this:

https://www.senado.cl/constitucion-poli ... 93048.html

Can someone confirm that is the right document, the constitution of Chile as it stands today....?
