Anyone able to explain why XE and the like continue to show the dollar going up, to 839 last check.
While emol is saying it sank, sank in their vocab means it gave up the previous days gains, 20 odd pesos. ?????
Govt and the technocrats unfortunately I fear are pissing 20 billion up against the wall, hope I'm wrong.

Today with that central bank news it feels like when everyone (everyone except most people here) was so hopeful a couple weeks ago when they thought everything would be fine because the idiots had reached a decision to hold a referendum on the constitution. With dollar debt I really dont want it to continue to climb, but it looks like there is a clear level of panic setting in from the technocrats and unfortunately despite all these extraordinary measures it's doing jackshit, that's the worry.

Even if it has dropped 30 pesos it just feels like an aspirin or a bandaid and will head back up while the shit continues, giving time for speculators to make a profit

I don't get that either. Just checked on my online Santander account. I can sell dollars at 814 and buy at 827. So according to them, rate is 820. I would go with that - They actually have something at stake - If they get it wrong they lose a lot of money

Here we go again this morning with dollar exchange rates all over the place.
825 Rueters UK

839 XE.com

823 OANDA

820 Transferwise

Afex in Puerto Varas 795

I had to change some dollars to pesos to pay my two workers, so last night around midnight got 829 with Transferwise.
Appears a lot of money being made on arbitrage.
Argentina rates are more stable than Chile, who'd have thunk it.
Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it.

So Morningstar is getting 850. Huh, I wonder where they're getting that from.

All this is "sospechosa la wea" as they say, some currency traders somewhere are making a mint profit in all this confusion .
