Now Baquedano metro burning, a LOT could go wrong, this could end in tragedy with 1.5 million people there.tiagoabner wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 7:31 pmExplosives next to 1 million people: what could go wrong?
Law and order were not even on the streets when the metro fires started. And that's precisely why they got started.
then pinera needs to follow up, and make a statement.admin wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 8:15 pmnow, how do you show them all the door?
I say they stay. show the government you don't want or need a state of emergency, curfew, and military in the streets
I bet they stay after curfew, and long as they are peaceful and the military backs off let's, there is the makings of one of the most important moments in chilean history to occur here tonight.
now will they realize the potential?
Serious question, though: what can he do without going through the Congress? I mean, he should be able to call off the emergency state, but can he do more than that?admin wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 8:33 pmthen pinera needs to follow up, and make a statement.admin wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 8:15 pmnow, how do you show them all the door?

I disagree. I saw this coming, or a war with Peru or Bolivia. When the student protests happened in 2011 they were so small scale but still they put rocks through my apartments windows and cars. And destroyed the centre pretty systematically. Looted pharmacies and shops. And that was just a small group of anarchists. At the time I didn't read Chilean news or such and thought it was the norm.mem wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 10:44 pm
I don't blame Pinera...of couse hindsight is 20/20...but I also know that very few of us every would have though we would be seeing this 4 weeks ago...we would have thought you were nuts. So we can nitpick what Pinera should or shouldnt have done, but the truth is basically everyone from us to the government were blindsided by the brazen criminal acts parading around under the facade of "protest"
