Heard (unconfirmed) they took out Jumbo in Pto Montt last night
Definitely spreading to the south.

also get ready for a monday morning stock market reaction.

my prediction for market reaction.

copper price spikes

peso takes a wipper to the dollar.

chilean stock market, especially the likes of fallabela, etc, crash.

it will all be temporary, but significant moves, that will long-term be a historical over reaction.

my play, i have some copper company stocks outside the country (with mines all over the world), priced in dollars. going to let them run bit, peso crash, sell them, buy pesos, then buy chilean companies stocks with good diversification outside chile (e.g. fallabela, copec, few others). if this plays out, there could be a good 30% or more to be made in one day; as long as the big boys dont get the same idea all at once. we could see the stock market actually rally.

Teleton launched their TV ads where people dance with bengal fires. Perfect timing.

CADEM says that 65% are on the protester side. Considering the biases of their polls, the actual number is probably higher.
I'm sure you are right. They are such tight-fisted maricones here that they approve of anything that saves them money, including outright theft. In a few days, when the extent of the damage and the food shortages bite, they will blame the government!.

The normally apathetic, amoral majority went along with the disorders in the hope of deriving some personal benefit, perhaps even a 50 inch TV :) But they will start complaining when they start to pay the price.

In a country with regionally high drink and drug consumption levels, combined with record obesity statistics, the $30 fare raise is not a convincing excuse for rioting.

Here in Serena, two Supermarkets and a Distributor that supplies the smaller shops were looted last night. This morning a small shop has already doubled its prices.

then we also should expect central bank gdp revisions, rating agencies cuts to public and private bonds, inflation adjustments, and the central bank to announce deeper rate cuts early next week.

Nice hindsight analysis, quite centrist in my opinion:

https://www.latercera.com/opinion/notic ... ia/869519/

Supermarkets closed down South, talking to a guy selling fruit and vegies outside Unimarcs closed door, he was not happy about the weons in Santiago, neither were a couple of people waiting for the doors to open, angry to be honest with what's happening.

I can blame the government right now, before shortages even begin. It was all easily avoidable if they stopped speaking from a high horse (without a right to do so, see the recent corruption cases) and actually listened to somebody but themselves.
