Is Chile more like France with its treatment of autism?

In Chile, when the old, crazy, and infirm are institutionalized and set out in a wheelchair on the patio to drool all over each other they are referred to as “locos de patio”. This is where we keep our locos de patio on the All Chile Forum.

Is Chile more like France with its treatment of autism?

French autistic kids mostly get psychotherapy.

I have had a healthy amount of conflict regarding my own child since arriving in Chile and he is "mild " on the spectrum. No signs of "packing" but psychotherapy and medication were expected treatments. I have used behavioral therapy plus a holistic approach with documented success as a mom/teacher. If I had not raised hell and been well versed on the subject locally he would be in therapy, medicated and rediagnosed with other conditions.
That should explain my previous post where I was ready to homeschool. If at any time someone has personal observations regarding the Chilean approach to autism please post it.
We agree to disagree.

This lady lives here and posts a lot about disabilities, special education and also autism. No idea if it is a help but she might be more knowledgeable about the local scene. She has quite a strong personality but I am guessing you can hold your own! :)
