The real name of cali_chile48 is Tom Hutton (hope he will forgive me for this one time breach of privacy under the circumstance).

Found it, but on closer look there is no phone number. I simply did not have time before the disaster to get back to him about running the free advertising on allsouthernchile.com or I would have asked for the posting.

From his email describing the rental:
About the house: 4 bedrooms, 1.5 bath, balcony off of the two bedrooms on the second floor with a great view of Coliumo Bay. The house has a full kitchen, a barbecue pit (quincho) and a wood burning oven (horno de barro). Of course, it has a regular oven in the kitchen, too. Cable TV, wifi, fireplace, beds for 8 people (two queen size beds and two sets of bunk beds). See attached pics.

The house is located between Dichato and Pingueral, about 1 km from the center of Dichato on the road that rises up to the entrance to Pingueral. (Pingueral is an exclusive community...lots of money....and they employ some tactice to keep people away...like a sign that says "private driveway" and a little guard house where they ask you what you want. in fact, the beach is public and they cannot legally stop anyone from visiting, but a little intimidation goes a long way and many people simply turn around and go back to Dichato.)
This should be outside the disaster zone. I just hope he was not in town helping when the tsunami hit.

Does anyone know him, or has anyone heard from anyone in that area?

I found this additional advertising for his place:
http://www.adoos.cl/post/11531223/arrie ... 8_personas

there is a cell phone number, but I get a number does not exist message when I call. Phones are doing strange things right now. I sent and email and sms.

Can anyone gleem any other details from his posting, clues, so on?

Pingueral that he mentions as being near was damaged badly, we are trying to figure out how to contact someone in the area.

I just got contacted in PM by tom's cousin, and there was a reported sms from him at 2 pm on saturday to his girlfriend. his house was gone. no one has heard from him since. His girlfriend is on the way there to start searching for him.

Does anyone know exactly what time the tsunami hit Dichoto? Does anyone have a link to a map with the tsunami times of impact on the coast?

video 'moments after' wave hit Dichato (I can't translate the audio)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M_SSm7ppO4

from this news story, I'm GUESSING the waves hit Dichato about 80 minutes after the earthquake - based on these quotes:

"In the village of Dichato, teenagers drinking on the beach were the first to shout the warning when they saw a horseshoe-shaped bay empty about an hour after the quake. They ran through the streets, screaming. Police joined them, using megaphones." AND
"We ran through the highest part of town, yelling, 'Get out of your homes!'" said Claudio Escalona, 43, who fled his home near the campground with his wife and daughters, ages 4 and 6. "About 20 minutes later came three waves, two of them huge, about 6 meters (18 feet) each, and a third even bigger. That one went into everything."

TVN just broadcast live from Dichoto a couple of mins ago.

The military by boat delivered the first aid to the dichota this morning.

From the limited TV images we seen of the town, I would say about 80% of the town is just rubble. It looked houses on the hill were still standing.

The PDI was just arriving to enforce a 6 pm curfew in the town.

There is an aid distribution center setup in the center of town.

The firefighters were searching the rubble.

There was no idea about the number of dead, injured, or other statistics as it is too early.

Best I found about Dichato so far:
http://diario.latercera.com/2010/03/01/ ... 308_9.html

Didn't any map that could be useful for these purposes.

Update Tom's listing if you hear anything:

There was another gringa in Dicheto who made it: Amanda Rose. Didn't find her on FB or anywhere else though, in case she had met Tom. http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-414530
