walking a dog in the city

Post by thaitochile » Tue Dec 16, 2014 6:32 am

So, with all the stray dogs in major cities of Chile what is it like taking your dog out for a walk if you live in an apartment in the heart of a city?
Is this a problem with all the street dogs?
Prayers without wine are perfectly pointless.

Street dogs are not a problem unless you are walking a bitch (canine) in heat. Street dogs know how to share the space in order to survive in the city. What you have to watch out for are the pampered pets who suddenly shoot out a gate or the owners walking a pampered pet off the lead. For those you carry a stick. Seven years of walking a dog 4 rimes a day in Providencia and never had a problem with street dogs but had to use the stick every so often.

Thanks Donny, that was exactly the info I was looking for...but you bring up an interesting question. In your first sentence I can't help but wonder what if it wasn't a (canine) bitch you were walking. The mind boggles.

Lived in Centro and providencia. Streets occasionally a pain, but then they can be occasionally for humans too. Never needed a stick, just turned to face then or ooccasional erratic step put them on the back foot. They have park security driving around looking for pain in the arse groups of dogs generally too.

There is a funny video on YouTube of a group of dogs harnessing a random man in Centro, other people had to step in to help.

Biggest problem I found in Centro was glass and other sharp objects littered the street.
