If you look at the contrast of the grass and trees in the first photos, against the ones now and the fox, you get an idea of just how dry the south is right now.

28 fires reported in the 10th region today. Frutillar has been doing pretty good, we had a heavy fog until almost noon today with no wind to wet everything down, but the smoke has been blowing north in the afternoons from all the fires around PM and Chiloe.

yea, my puppy decided to make friends with one of them. She is kind of clueless and her first time encountering a skunk, and thought it was just another dog that wanted to make friends and would like her to smell it's but. Of course that happened at 5 am, as the sun was breaking, I had not had my coffee. By the time I got my flash light to see what she was so excited about (kind of looked like another dog in the dark, but I was not sure), all I seen was her with her nose about a foot from the but of the skunk. I did not even need to smell her, to know it was too late.

By 5:15 she it was in a tomato paste bath.

At least I don't have to pull Porcupine quills from 100+ pound snarling dogs here. I pulled quills once or twice a year from both my pure-bread German Sheppard and Sheppard / Wolf hybrid. The Sheppard was o.k. with it, the wolf took full grown men, and we all ran for our lives every time we yanked one out. Both were relatively good sports about it, and knew it was nothing personal.

It's a foxhole. And the fox was hiding.
