oooo, big, big mistake.

If you want a riot on your hands, try cutting off liquor sales while telling people they have to stay home.

When my wife and I were teaching in china, we got to talking to a couple of students about their experiences durring the SARS epidemic. it had just happened the year before we arrived.

what the Chinese authorities did was send the military to close the campus. we are talking the size of a small city, 30,000 plus people live on the campus.

so how do you keep that many students in one place with a small number of soliders?

sex, drugs, and rock n roll

they brought in truck loads of alcohol. they told the students to start big fires, and brought out concert size speaker systems. they told them to get to know eachother (sex is highly regulated on university campuses in China). They partied none-stop through the quarantine, with the government's blessing.

one of our students just giggled. That student's eyes rolled as she told us about kissing her first boy. she said it was the greatest experience of her life.

It did not sound like too many students tried to escape.

The best Chilean moonshine.

Made not from grain like the competitors but cane sugar and grapes!

50% alky, good price to alcohol ratio!

I'd been saving my Mezcal for a suitable occasion. Guess it just arrived!

Famous scene from The Omega Man.

Or modified for today, Charleston Heston in self-isolation (notice the use of J&B Whiskey to keep on topic):

This one is cheap as heck, and it's actually pretty decent. USD $4 for a 2-liter bottle with this quality is quite a steal.

That is my weekly go to bottle. Two weeks ago, $2990 at the local hiperlider. The flavor does change from batch to batch. And I stick to Santa Rita wines (120, Bodega Uno) as they do not use sulfites which my wife has a reaction to.

Yeah, they are reliably good and not expensive at all, even when compared to Chilean wine prices. They are available at most major supermarkets, which means I can find it reliably even during these exciting times we're going through.
