Beef in Chile - Brazil makes headway, but what happened to Uruguay

Where I buy beef in the south it is mostly a combination of Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, and then some Chile and US

Over the last several years I have rarely been able to get steaks from Uruguay.

I was surprised to see this article, since they have been foisting Brazilian beef on me every week for years in the stores

I never buy Brazilian or Argentine meat because of all the GMO there. I like the Chilean meat, but I really wish there was a steady supply of Uruguayan steaks. Some of the best steaks I have been able to get here, but only seen them a few times : (

Yep, ticks me off, Iike in Tottus, you see the aviso for carne importado de Argentina y Uruguay but no Uruguay to be found. I too refuse to buy Argentina and Brasil beef. I suspect the Brasil beef has not only been raised cradle to grave with GMO but also mislabeled as once I bought Brasilian lomo vetado which ended being tough as hell.

how south are you?
isn't spouse to be easier to get quality chilian meat over there?
I remember around temuco was great meat...

Uruguay has the best meat out there. sadly most of Uruguay exported is not nearly as good.

Tip for Chile meat searchers:

Lider many times has imported meat on offer BUT in those same bins, you can find Valdivia or Osorno Chile meats in that same bin at the same price as those nasty Argie cuts.

Remember zerOnz worked with and vouched for those heavy plastic sealed Chile cuts. You have to let them "breathe" after taking them out of the plastic.
