Too bad you're in Santiago. Here in La Serena, we've been making kombucha and have ever growing SCOBYs.

SCOBY = Symbiotic Colony of Bacteria and Yeast. It's what you need to ferment tea to make kombucha.

Sounds icky, but the finished product is pretty tasty.

Join Food Finds in Chile on Facebook and use the search function. It pops up there all the time. Along with all sorts of other weird stuff! :)

Yeah, we grew some once, it pushed open the refrigerator door and was working it's way down the hall when I called the police.

Have anybody had any luck yet? I've found the email addresses in that website are dead accounts for the ones in Chile.
