Post by Lydia » Wed Sep 30, 2009 4:46 pm

Hello!

I currently have a friend visiting in Chile who wants to volunteer/intern full-time.
She will be available for approximately 5 weeks.
She need something ASAP.
She is a 20-year-old college student studying International Relations.
She has an intermediate level of Spanish.

Thank you!

Is your friend a native English speaker? I might be able to connect her with a school that needs native English speakers.

But P: all this "barbed wire stretching" no longer makes any sense in this World.. These cows.. They go through the barbed wire.. and over the barbed wire.. and under the barbed wire.. and they can ever use their tail to defend themselves from dogs..

I don´t understand. Why does one need to be a native English speaker to stretch barb-wire? I know people that are non-English speakers and they stretch barb-wire without any problems! Sometimes I think people get wrapped around the whole idea of being able to speak native this and native that....as long as you do the job correctly and in a timely manner there should no questions.

Why does one need to be a native English speaker to stretch barb-wire? Please be advised, that in order to stretch barb-wire in Chile, "a friend visiting in Chile" must personally apply through this forum first. Hence, they need to be an English speaker (native or not).

Dear Sr. P:

This is my request for clarification.

As we all know, when a neighbor's cow would break through your barbed wire unnoticed, that cow could remember that place very well. Should it then repeat the offense, and then once again, such actions could easily become a habitual behavior.

Soon after that, assuming that a friend or two of the said cow would also learn the way through your barbed wire fence, that habitual behavior could easily become real tragedy for your farm! Again and again, like a well organized army, these cows would break into your farm, either through your barbed wire, or they would bravely jump over it.

Having eated all your beautiful grass, they would be shitting on your property, here and there, and their tail, while shitting, would be turned up, and that tail would remind you a question mark. That "question mark" relates to the following: does your 19-year old worker (or co-worker?) have to pull a 5-wire, or a 6-wire, or maybe a 7-wire fence?

That is the real question, that didn't allow me to sleep well this last night.

Please advise.

Yours Respectfully,

Rune
