Donnybrook - You are probably one of the few on this forum with a good gathering of "Colaiste na bhfiann, Ring i gcontae port-lairge" 'gus a leithead! I was blessed with our native Irish tongue given my surroundings and my papa from Falls road in Belfast. It's our beautiful language. Taught badly in schools de-temps-en-temps, but whilst spoken with that ever so Munster or Connaught tongue, would bleed emotion from within a a laja stone. Admin - Save typos, have I articulated enough? :-)

There is actually a group in Santiago who get together to chat in Irish. Search that FB page. I know you aren't in Santiago but you could contact them and meet up sometime there or here.

Ah - sure I chat enough with a brother or two in Irish. Thanks for the info though. Gonna try and get a better grip on Spanish though. Been lazy with it and find more pedigree speaking English with my 2 year old; a bilingual tongue would benefit him. Regarding Irish… To intoduce Peig and her various conjugations might just throw him over the edge, and yours truly along with him probably.

Peig Sayers would throw anyone over the edge, even so, it's a language with rich literature. But, as Alan says, very badly taught. Alan, are you the Irish Journal writer? Or am I randomly conflating things?
