There used to be quite a few Feria Persas in Valpo----some designated with an official time and place and others not so much but they did have a time and a place were you just had to know----there are a few left but not many----My travels took me to Valpo for these markets as you could find some crazy stuff----I bought an old book in English, took it home where it sat for a few months before I opened it and when I did it opened to a hidden 2 ruble Russion bank note in perfect shape----it was from 1898. I started to look a lot in the feria's after that and I have a nice collection of currency because of it----it's not worth much but I have a great range of notes. It was explained to me that many people got off the boats after rounding the horn selling everything they had to go to BA and then back to where ever they were from---they had had it----for that reason Valpo had a great number of antique finds but now after the Congress, I don't think it's as good----the feeling in Valpo from those days for me was that you could find anything you wanted there and then some-----

I have been there once, and was, but never anywhere else.
Thread necro here....... but, why would you say you were robbed? Any ideas? Random event? I'm just curious.

I felt a few times that we might get hassled, but Zulu789/Hernan and myself out bar-hopping were two larger dudes who looked kinda scary themselves.

Many years ago the Feria at Santa Lucia in Stgo had a used book seller. Lots of old stuff, including Nazi-era school text books. A rather different take on the world....

Sad story of youthful naivete. They thought evil was make believe...a provincial concept made up to explain the differences between people.

Then evil rolled up on em. Now they are dead. Life wasted except for the production of a cautionary tale.
