admin, did you mean Huawei of China, the same one being banned from the US before the 5 G deployment? By the way, I hear ENTEL is in charge of upcoming 5 G tech there in Chile?

First Carl Gohsn of Renault-Nissan arrested in Japan; then the Kerch incident that prevented Trump from talking to Putin at G20; then Merkel's plane had to turn around mid-air because of the failure of 'several electronic systems'; and then Huaiwei founder's daughter arrested in Vancouver. Have I missed any pieces of the puzzle? :)

NZ, Australia and US and now BT in the UK banning Huawei. In NZ , which would apply to Chile too I guess , there are divided opinions, some are worried about repercussions others claim Chinese customers still need countries such as NZ , Australia , (and Chile) for their primary produce, China has a huge appetite for those countries horticultural, agricultural and forestry products which is not going to disappear anytime soon, the math doesn't work as enough alternatives from other countries are not readily available
In the Lakes Region Chile for 6 years. It looks like New Zealand in some ways, and is nearly at the bottom of the world too, but there the similarities end.

Now Japan has joined the bandwagon. Japan to exclude Huawei and ZTE from public procurement: Japan plans to effectively exclude Chinese telecommunication equipment-makers Huawei Technologies Co. and ZTE Corp. from public procurement, a government source said Friday, amid concerns about security breaches that have already led the United States and some countries to ban them from supplying infrastructure products.

Cybersecurity officials of relevant government agencies will likely agree in a meeting as early as Monday to block the Chinese firms from taking part in government procurement without explicitly naming the two companies in consideration of the potential impact on Tokyo’s relations with Beijing, which have shown signs of improvement, the source said.

The officials are expected only to confirm that public procurement contracts should take into account security aspects, the source added.
