And never quotes that source. But let me do it for him. https://www.theguardian.com/business/20 ... in-economy

Also, I don't agree that Russia is a democracy.

Who's we? You can live out your second-hand ideological hypocrisies any way you like, but please spare the innocent.
You seem to have little to contribute but snark. All you do is try and attack the views of your others, you don't seem to hvae anything of interest to share yourself on this thread. I try to express my views politely, but you don't seem capable of doing so. I also noticed earlier when you said: Wow, Cat, what are you smoking? There was no capitalism in capitalist Russia? Boy, you so need to educate yourself. In fact, most of your posts for the last few pages have been like that.

I ignored it and just continued being polite the first 6 or so times, but come on. There is a limit to how much you can be rude to me and others.

Debate with me more politely from now on or I won't engage with you.

Did I shake you up a bit? Sorry, eh? I'm sure you'll survive though. Just don't attack the messenger simply because you don't like the message. And also, censorship, as in picking on my conversation with Cat, might be more becoming if you wear a uniform :)

Snark y smug y whatever. There was a South Park thingy on smug that was quite entertaining.

But back to the Maersk topic, the evidence now does indeed point to over the top (but not for Chile) labor actions that made said Danes say ADIOS Y CSM.
Generally, just a SPAM KILLER. You are on your own in this forum. My personal mission here is done.

The unions tried the same tactics they use with the big mining operations, where a small number of relatively unskilled striking workers can have a global effect on commodity prices, as well as affecting the national balance of payments.
Under those circumstances, the pressures from all sides to quickly resolve labour disputes over the years have resulted in high wages, and a massive range of additional benefits, unmatched in most countries, for a job that often consists of digging out copper ore and loading it into cargo ships for processing elsewhere, (as well as helping to generate the "easy money" effect sometime referred to as the Dutch Disease)

A manufacturing operation is much harder, placing much higher demands on logistical support and country infrastructure at all levels, right down to the performance and skills of individual workers. Maersk already said that they not only had difficulty in finding qualified labour, there were problems with absenteeism, and also serious HSE issues.

Any complicated industrial process demands a degree of compliance from its human element to work successfully, with the implicit understanding that if the company prospers, so will its workers. Unfortunately Chilean unions seem to be stuck with the 1970s "them and us" mentality, abetted by the national vices of codicia and envidia.

Britkid, at46 is a propagandist for his uncle Xi-Jingpin. Perhaps he made a fortune working with the PRC therefore can not bite the hand that feeds him.

Every post reveals more than the literal meaning. Snark is in the mind of the reader.

Hybrid, I understand if someone feels raw about missing the China/Russia gravy train in the nineties due to their ideological or nationalistic blinders. But the gift still keeps giving, and even if you personally might still have no interest in partaking, why put yourself in the way of others?

CUT thinks they can make a case in front of the oecd over the plant closing.

https://www.df.cl/noticias/economia-y-p ... 95358.html

Way to go morons. Unions Trolling companies in front of internation organization sure encourages companies to want to invest in chile.

This recent union bullshit is all a result of bachelet's half-baked labor reform that failed to provide a mechanism for resolution of disputes for both workers and companies. Instead the communist kids pushed for unions being able to cripple companies, even to the point of endangering their very existence. Workers now get to go from the picket line directly to the unemployment line, without even stopping by a negotiating table.

Looks like the CUT didn't learn a thing from what happened, but I'm sure Maersk did, and others will.

But since Communist tactics have always included destabilization and civil unrest in order to further their ambitions for a Socialist state, perhaps the Maersk result is not so unwelcome to them as they make it out to be.
After all, well-paid workers in steady employment don't go in much for radical social change.

Still, the CUT will find it hard to cast an advanced European enterprise, one that by all accounts treated its workforce very fairly, as the ruthless capitalist exploiter that betrayed their Chilean employees.
