It seems to me that a 46 inch TV is only about $300. Hardly worth shipping one.

Besides, isn't the TV system different between the USA and South America? Would the TV even work in the USA?

Oh wait. Are you going someplace else besides the USA?

Maybe do a search on Walmart and Costco web pages to see what they are charging for a telly. That is, incidentally, a pretty small TV, now.

Tv sorted,

Second hand value in chile $250,000
Price to buy new in NZ (not usa) $US1500, so difference of $US1000.....

Decided to keep it, $US 60 to take as a piece of excess baggage! It just fits under the minimum size requirements! (just)

No the TV turner will not work in NZ... and i have never used the TV turner in chile anyway, because you always need/have a cable box for HD!

:)

where would they find large one use bags to use for checked luggage?
I've seen those bags in a $2 kind shop near La Vega on Artesanos, looking at the map I would say between the block somewhere between Recoleta and Gandarillas, this was about 10 months ago though so don't know if they still have them. There are some stalls on Gandarillas as you walk down to La Vega might be worth a look there if the other shop doesn't have them.

Permanent? That is a great pity. I know you gave it your best. I guess it just didn't fit.

Sorry that living in Chile didn't work out for you. The very best wishes on your return to Australia.
