Argentina Economy, Election, and possible default?

Anything at all (keep it clean) goes here that does not fit in to any of the other forums.

I think he was referring to the IMF loan. Doubt that ver much of that $56b went into the hands of Argie travelors buying TVs in Chile.
That was spent on propping up the Argentina peso, or at least most of it so far.
Then the Argie tourists would still be coming here to spend their propped up pesos. Instead they're coming here as poor immigrants now. And Cristina is the one who raped them? Like I said, something doesn't add up.

Latam will suspend their flights to Argentina tomorrow due to the strike. Things are starting to develop in a concerning manner.

well, this is quite the accomplishment. 13.4% decline in industrial production in one month.

https://www.reuters.com/article/argenti ... SE6N218004

in the Spanish financial press i am seeing a fast growing list of companies either shutting down or pulling out of argentina.

in the English financial press, i see a growing list of articles written by Argentin pump and dumpe scammers, supported by big investment banks, all talking up what an opportunity this to invest in Argentina and how it is going to pour rainbows and unicorns at any second.

this could be the stupidest or the best idea ever. brazil and argentina forming a common currency, for mercosur.

https://m.cooperativa.cl/noticias/pais/ ... 81048.html

I am going to put my (real) money on it being the stupidist idea ever, for two countries that have almost never been able to control their national budgets sufficiently for any sustained lenghth of time to maintain a stable currency.

on the other hand, getting the currency out of reach of political stupidity and corruption might be exactly what they need.

I think Mercosur is the real joke.

It is essentially an anti-free trade agreement.

Kill mercosur, fix all those countries trade agreements, the domestic institutions, then in some far off future when we all have flying electric cars, possibly start talking about an integrated currency.

ohhh, this get's better.

Brazil central bank denies it, but Bolsonario was supposedly talking about one currency for the whole continent.

https://uk.reuters.com/article/us-brazi ... KKCN1T81II

NO F*n way should Chile even entertain such political and economic suicide. The Euro anyone?

Like Chile is ever going to hand over monetary policy to the likes of Brazil, Argentina, <insert insanely corrupt and broke SA government here>. Is Venezuela included?

Yea, don't think so.

In about 200 years, South America might, might be ready to play around with something like that.

That is even stupider than the Bachelet administration floating the idea of single passport for pacific alliance countries, and that was pretty stupid.

If some crazy Chilean administration made any serious move to try that, I will be the first to cash out of Chile and move somewhere else.

These are the same morons that can not get on the same page sufficiently long to sign even simple trade agreements with almost anyone. Think I seen the other day, Mercosur was "close" to a EU-Mercosur free trade agreement. They have been close for 30 years.

Think it through from Bolsonaro/Bachelet/whoever elitist's point of view. They are not stupid or insane. More than anything, they want power over your* life. Controlling your economy is the best way to control your life.

Remember what Lenin said about the necessity of entrenched elitism.

*Your = everybody's
