A big bamboo flute

Post by RuneTheChookcha » Fri Dec 09, 2016 4:44 pm

Yet another bansuri with ergonomic hole alignment is available.

My standard build is a right-handed, six tone hole, side-blown, bamboo/reed/cane flute. This one is made from imported bamboo. The player's side of the embouchure hole of all my flutes is usually a bit sanded, rounded, and smoothed -- to avoid damage to the lower lip. But, the opposite side (the outer edge) of the embouchure is sharpened, and slightly undercut -- this is done to improve range.

The tonic note SA is at first 3 finger-holes closed. Tonic (SA): Ds (D#). The lowest tone, the note produced with the first six finger holes closed, (PA): As (A#).

Total length: 710 mm (28"). Inner diameter: 23 mm (0.9").
Base frequency: A=440Hz, for warm weather.*
(* Pitch of Bansuri drops with a drop in temperature.)

Nice looking craftsmanship.
Could fit in well with my daughters music classes.

Note, there is a smaller one, but of the same (or better) quality. Higher scale.

For shorter fingers, this could be far more convenient.

Bansuri bass Fs (6-hole flute).
Total length: 588 mm (23.15").
Inner diameter: 23 mm (0.9").
Base frequency: A=432Hz.
Tonic (SA): Fs (F#).
Lowest tone (PA): Cs (C#).

The smaller flute of the two posted is now with a new owner in Pichilemu.

A number of less expensive reed/cane flutes is available. Customized ones can be ordered (subject to bamboo availability).

25 reed/cane flutes available wholesale, all big ones at 2.000 each, all small ones at 1.000 each, terms: "all or none". (Including actually 3 bamboo flutes, one of them is a refurbished by me bass Indian scale bansuri "D#" 29", the two others are thicker than normal bansuris C# and E.)

The reason is that I am totally liquidating my non-professional stock. Each one has one or more imperfections with regard to the tuning, but they all sound more or less accurate in the 1st octave, with most of the big ones tuned normally up to the middle of the 2nd octave.

3 professional grade flutes are also available, the largest one is an Indian scale bansuri "concert E" 29" (74 cm) length, the two others can be used either as an Irish flute D (especially the finest one that weights 45 g only and is performing better in the second register) or the Indian scale Bansuri G (esp. the thicker one, that performs better in the lower bass register).
