anyone renewed their UK passport recently?

Discuss the best and worst companies and customer services in Chile including tips, tricks, rants, endorsements, and which businesses to avoid at all cost. If we talk about them frequently enough, we might just get the attention of the company. Help other Expats and Gringos find the good companies in Chile, and avoid the bad ones.

It changed the system for all of South America. One used to go in to the embassy, leave your ID downstairs and go upstairs and fill in the application. There was a very nice lady there who did passports. If you lived here any time at all you knew people, Chileans and Brits, who worked in the embassy. Then the system changed, the nice lady lost her job and you can only go to the embassy office for a short list of specific things and with an appointment. No one knows anyone at the embassy any more. The last ambassador wasn't really interested in the local British community. So, anything which has to be done through the embassy takes a long time, costs a lot of money and avoids any human contact.
