Feria Libre weight check - my amusing diversion of the day

Discuss the best and worst companies and customer services in Chile including tips, tricks, rants, endorsements, and which businesses to avoid at all cost. If we talk about them frequently enough, we might just get the attention of the company. Help other Expats and Gringos find the good companies in Chile, and avoid the bad ones.

Feria Libre weight check - my amusing diversion of the day

Have any of you ever done this?

Decided to play with the digital kitchen scale I bought in the States.

Out of the 5 items that were sold by weight, 3 were slightly more in weight and 2, right on.

Got to hand it to the honesty and integrity of the folks selling there.

Without any sort of digital scale I feel that quite often -- things are more in weight at the feria.

We actually stopped going to one feria here after we did a weight check and found that their scales were "weigh" off, and not to our benefit. They sold us a kilo of cheese that was more like 800 grams. And everything else we weighed at the house were about as badly off. We went to a different feria, checked their weights when we got home, and they were spot on.
