BE also has time deposits of whatever time period you need.

Yes, but the rate is one of the lowest (2.16%) according to this research (I haven't verified it myself):

Where do you see 3K for the ATM withdraw? Wording sounds like only when done at the window, and then there is this:
Comisión por uso de Tarjeta de Cajero Automático:
Personas naturales : Sin comisión.
(2) Los giros por transferencias de fondos efectuados por Internet y Servicio Telefónico no se consideran para el cómputo del límite máximo de giros exentos y no están afectos a comisión.
So transfer into your CuentaRUT and then withdraw?

Thx. Sounds like an account worth asking for.

Actually, ~1500:
COMISIÓN POR CADA GIRO EN EXCESO (1) (2)
por CAJ. AUT: UF 0,05 + IVA
a contar del 3° giro anual
The 3000 were for getting money at the window (UF 0.1 + IVA).

But who uses a live teller when not needed :?:

The only persons that would find BE "bad" IMO are those who live in Santiasco. The lines are always impossibly long (like all public AND private services in Santiasco). Here in the provinces, things are a lot more tranquil and manageable.

Yes, I always go to a small branch instead of the central one and rarely wait more than 5 minutes.

I asked in a Banco Estado once and they suggested to go Tuesday-Thursday (there were some specific things people would do Mondays and Fridays, also makes sense that people are trying to get things done on Monday/Friday before/after the bank being closed at the weekend) and they also suggested middle of the month (people tend to get paid end of month).

Occassionally I go right at the start of the month or end (maybe 29th-5th) and I have to queue. For say 10th-15th on a Tuesday-Thursday there is little or no queue.

I mostly go in Isla de Maipo where the queue is like 30 minutes for 29th-5th or 5 minutes for 10th-15th Tuesday-Thursday.

In Talagante it is about 1-2 hours for 29th-5th or 30 minutes for 10th-15th.

I got a Cuenta RUT last month to simplify some payments (IE. rent & condo fees), but I often get an "En este momento no lo podemos atender" error message when doing transfers online. Has someone here received these previously? I assume this is just Banco Estado being lazy, down for maintenance or anything in between, but it strikes me as something kind of odd and annoying.

I have double checked and it isn't an error on my side. I have done transfers previously (IE. last Friday), I have balance available and I have used the right "claves".

Yep, happens very often. I sometimes try again and it works. Usually I just swear at it and try again later :) It's a very clumsey site showing it's age.

Just for the sake of checking what's going on, I called their customer service. It seems their system is unstable right now (words right out of the CS rep's mouth). Guess I will try again later.

At least I'm not paying maintenance fees for this account. Otherwise I would be pretty pissed with their crappy service.
