another strike of DGAC at SCL airport Dec 17-18, 2015

Does anybody know anything about the strike by DCAG at the SCL airport this Thursday (Dec 17) and Friday (Dec 18)? The SCL airport says that all national flights are canceled, and incoming international flight will be okay, but nothing about outgoing international flights.

The only article that I was able to find online said that the strike would last for 48 hours ( Thurs and Fri). Please post any new info that might help those of us meeting incoming passengers this weekend. I will continue to try to check with the airline ( and post any results) but others may have more success!

yea, we have been doing a lot of schedule shuffling around this today.

We had family member that was suppose to fly in to Puerto Montt at 1 am, the strike is suppose to start at 12 am. We got their ticket moved to an earlier time.

We also were suppose to have one of the girls that works for us go on a trip this week for a client. She said, "if I go and miss x-mass because I can not get back, it will be guaranteed divorce".

We pushed that trip also until after the holidays and the DGAC sorts out what they are doing.

yea, after all that seems they did not strike. The puerto Montt airport yesterday was seriously stacked up, as all the airlines had moved their flights earlier to avoid the strike.

So the gobierno brought in air force personnel to temporarily replace the strikers. Why couldn't they have brought in army personnel to man Registro Civil?

yep, again Bachelet violated her own union law by replacing striking workers.

My brother is arriving to Chile on Monday, and leaving on about the 30th.

They are threatening to extend the strike "indefinitely". This after Nelly (of the Registro Civil strike) paid a visit. Arrivals seem to be OK. Weather reports for the destinations, in order to draw up the flight plan, seems to be the major problem with domestic flight departures. Easter Island has the most cancellations, followed by Punta Arenas.

My Easter Island flight was canceled today They said it was because of the airport in Easter Island is all closed because the workers are participating in the strike there. What a big BUMMER!!!

I have a couple of friends visiting from the USA and they are on Easter Island and can't get out. Bigger bummer.
