Closeup of inside one of the capillas de marmol. This is on the Autral, south of Aysen. You can camp for free at several places along the lake. Short boat rides to to the capillas cost about $5000CLPs a couple years ago. Stunning place.

Looks like you're off on a great adventure. Post some pics and narrative along the way, if you can!

I do own a BOB trailer and have used it on some tours, it handles nicely as do some of those 2 wheeled burley cargo trailers. I haven't ruled it out but its just one more piece of equipment to fly with and the airlines have really clamped down on baggage allowance. I've got it now where my bike breaks in two and can fit into one suitcase, racks, panniers, camping gear in another and carry on my clothes. I wish I could go credit card light but thats not going to happen. I'm giving myself 5 weeks to get from San Pedro to Bariloche to meet up with my wife on her teachers break and then continue south with no schedule to Patagonia.
Thanks for the offer Bones, I sent you a pm

different airlines, different rates...?
we flew a tandem in a box from nor-am to santiago for 100$
pal air charged us nada to take it to puerto montt...
everything else was normal cargo and carry-on...
the BoB was in a cardboard box, stuffed w/ a bunch of other gear...
