New gringo

Post by Bunchgrass » Tue Apr 27, 2021 4:10 pm

I’m new to this forum and figured I should introduce myself as I start to post here. 61 yr old looking to get out of the insanity of the US right wing nutcases that are likely to gain control for the final 20 yrs (w/ luck) of my life. I farm and run a small scientific based business and mi esposa works in a university research lab. My Spanish skills are and my wife’s are nonexistent but totally want to learn.

Why Chile? Many years ago, my daughter was cared for by a wonderful woman from Temuco while her husband was in grad school like me. She spoke glowingly about her home country and that has never left my mind. In fact, Angelica still sends my wife a birthday card each year.

Ha! I’m running from the left wing terrorists invading my privacy.

Well, left or right, Deagle's projection for 2025 has Chile much better off than the Empire.
Que será, será.

Welcome to the forum!

Chile is actually a right wing country in my view, in its current government and laws and systems and economic model, but it may or may not be able to lurch off to the left in the next couple of years. Let's see.

Temuco is on my bucket list. Would be nice one day to actually understanding the situation with indigenous Mapuche people and what they want and what's to be done about the incidents in the region. In fact, I was going to go in December but a few things got in the way. Hoping to get there in 2022 or 2023.

I'm more okay with Chile's gun laws than I am with what we have in the US. If that's right wing, then ok.

The child care provider I mentioned, Angelica, is of indigenous blood. One of her daughters is now a physician in Chile.
