water rights, or whatever it's called now

Post by thisisreallycomplicated » Tue Nov 19, 2013 6:30 pm

I'm trying to get a general idea how much water rights would cost for a small farm (1.5 - 5 hectares), and so far I haven't been able to find anything. Does anyone know where I could find some cost data? Or does anyone have any examples they could share? Thanks.

I put 'compro derechos de agua en...' in Google. Add the location you are interested in.
Vendo derechos de agua Santiago Norte desde 0,5 litros por segundo ... $ 7.850.000

http://santiago.olx.cl/derechos-de-agua ... -563320498

A la fecha en que se difundió el citado reportaje de CIPER, las mineras pagaban hasta US$ 60 mil por cada litro/segundo que les vendían agricultores.

Edit: Probably 'vendo derechos de agua..' might work better.

what part of chile?

somewhere between 0 dollars and and about 100 miliion+ dollars.

i got properties sales in negotiation right now where the water rights are possibly worth more than the land and opertional farm ( $3 million export this year) together for the neiboring properties. i'm talking the water rights alone are worth millions of dollars in the central part of chile.

go south 1000 km, and everyone would think you are a moron for even asking the question because there is so much water.

go to the far north, and there is no water to even have discussion about.

Mainly near La Serena. But I might go south, so really anywhere in Chile.

Yeah, this is one of those "how long is a piece of string" questions:) I was just trying to get some general ideas about how expensive water is, in different parts of Chile. And I was having trouble finding anything. But frozen-north gave me some better search terms, so I'm starting to find stuff now.

Land without water rights in the Elqui valley region is basically useless for growing anything.
Irrigation canals in this area are administered by the JVRE
http://www.rioelqui.cl/wp_new_site/

Permanent water rights are tied to a fixed delivery point, either the Elqui river, or one of the irrigation canals and the JVRE discourages the sale or transfer of these rights. Properties are generally sold with water rights intact, as they raise the value of the land considerably

What are these, and what's the issue with them?

Does anyone here know what "derecho a Agua de Noria" means? I found an interesting ad for some land in the Santiago metropolitan region, and I'm trying to figure out what the owner wrote to me. I read that there used to be water there in shallow wells. But some big companies use too much of it, so now all the shallow wells are dry. So I'm trying to figure out if the land has rights for a deeper well. There may also be a stream bordering the land, but I don't know for sure, or if there's any water in it.

Strange, but when I put "derecho a Agua de Noria" I only get pages from Spain. To get any pages from Chile I put 'Chile / "derechos de agua" / pozo' , and I get quite a few pages, including these ones:

Try googling this:
site:*.cl derecho a Agua de Noria
No quotes makes a difference.

Noria is a shallow well usually between 3 and 10 m and usually of a greater diameter than deep bores.
Typically they are not particularly well designed and production is limited, most people use these for there domestic supply and maybe a garden.
