Villarrica - Cat Litter

Post by PickyPicky » Thu Oct 25, 2012 10:57 pm

We've finally done it and after years of preparation, months of very hectic life in the US, 4 weeks in Santiago, we are finally in Villarrica, with our 2 cats in an empty rented house, waiting for our shipment to arrive.

Does anybody know where we can find CLUMPING cat litter? We found it in Santiago, at a Lider, but cannot seem to find it in this area, not even in Temuco.

I don't know what the hell clumping cat litter is but I use viruta (wood shavings) for out litter box. If you find a furniture maker or a saw mill, you can find dry shavings which work best and they will give it to you for free. Also work great for horse bedding in a stable.

try sodimac in villarica. If not the big box stores are all in Temuco (lider, jumbo, easy, sodimac, and a bunch of pet stores).

I was blessed with a fully house broken street cat. She prefers a well maintained garden with freshly turned dirt under the rose bushes. Then also by cat is pretty 4x4, and her favourite sport is stocking street dogs and fox. The bigger the better. House cats that can not handle the local dogs, or at least do not have a fenced yard, likely not a good idea. We have had some kitty relocations not go so well when they met the local street dogs.

I gave up on the kitty litter and trained kitty to go outside. She has 2 dogs as body guards, her "mom" and "sister".

Sodimac in Temuco has something close, I have a couple of Siamese and one with renal problems. It is a must to use litter without perfumes or harmful chemicals. I also use Cat's Pride which is also at the Vet office in Curacautin. Costs more than double in U.S. Sodimac is less and I think they prefer it I usually buy 6 bags at a time.
I have problems finding renal Royal Canine. Only one place in Temuco. Anyone know of a different renal food around Temuco?
Thanks, La Esmeralda

ok, will try cat's pride..

for cat food you can't find in Temuco, you can always have it sent "por encomienda" from a Santiago vet

We always use the Pestell Easy Clean as well with good results. With 4 cats, we usually buy the 15 kilo bags from a vet clinic by the house.
