A clear map to see how each district voted.

And here's a breakdown by profession. Quite a number of lawyers, but also 4 professional chess players!

Can anyone explain this to me? Why was Claudia Castro elected in district 14?
Chile Vamos gets 1 candidate, makes sense.
But why the candidate with the least votes??
Gender quotes, she got swapped with Jaime Coloma who was the male candidate from her party with the least amount of votes among the seat-winning males.

so the lawyers won.

Shakespeare might be on to something,

I was going to vote for the guy that won our district (RN, former regional governor), but I decided to vote for a philosophy professor instead at the very last moment.

think he got like 2% of the vote.

lawyer jokes aside, that does make me feel a bit better.

you can't just write airy fairy unicorn shit, without it making some sort of practical sense. they at least appreciate the delicate beucratic implementation problem.

and as I have always claimed, 99% of chiles problems are wrapped up in the judicial branch, or need to be solved in the courts; however, a bunch of powerful buisness idiots purposely have kept it disabled so they never have to pay for misbehaving.

Why was she chosen instead of the two women from her party in the same district that each got more votes than her?

She was the only one from that party (UDI), others in that list were from other parties. Independent lists swapped whatever opposite-gender candidate was next in %, but party lists prioritized same-party members of the opposite genders.

Now I have had some time to dig in to the backgrounds a bit more, it is looking fairly good.

The left / right thing is fairly irrelevant. education and experience here counts.

You just can not have a bunch of semi-literate guys from the campo or some union grunts writing a constitution. It is just way to technical of an undertaking.

Even among the mapuche reserved, they are highly educated bunch.

I think I told this story, but what the hell.

when I first realized just how complicated writing a constitution, was when one of the most over educated people I have ever met in my life, and probably one of the most over qualified to write a constitution, said he doubted if he could write a good constitution.

I was taking a graduate seminar in early modern philosophy, with Dr. walton. PhDs in Philosophy and several other things. He was both the founder and Chair of the graduate program in ethics and policy studies. Head of the Hume society and a dozen other societies. He probably published more than the entire department combined. The guy was frigen printing press. He would be writing an op-ed piece for the local news paper about some recent political scandal, while finishing off an article on Kant's ethics being published in some obscure philosophy journal that only a half dozen people in the world would ever read.

We were discussing the origins of constitutions in history. He was asked by a student if he thought he could write a constitution. He thought about it for a long minute, "I could write one, but it probably would not be very good".

Although possibly the old guys who play chess in Plaza de Armas! This is very interesting as it strikes me as more important than political affiliation.

That makes sense. Thanks.
I guess my confusion was other women were from the same coalition of parites, but not the same party as I perhaps wrongly said above.
Very lucky for her since she got hardly any votes.
